  1. Thanks everyone! It's good to know I'm not alone! I absolutely intend to stick to the pre-op diet for the two weeks as my Dr. instructed. I just need to get a little bit of control between now and then! I had the opportunity to schedule my surgery much sooner, (2 weeks after my initial consult, which would have had me getting banded this week) but I had to postpone until May because I'm going on a business trip to Mexico City at the end of April and I didn't want to be that far away from my doctor and eating funny in a situation where I won't have control over where and when we eat. I keep trying to remind myself that waiting was for the best in the long run, and it has given me a ton of time to research and learn, but I just want to get started! I think I'm actually going to try to wean myself onto my pre-op diet of Protein shakes, and high protein/low fat foods. When I'm given strict instructions for a plan, I can follow it perfect, but left to my own devices I struggle to make the right choices. The last supper is one thing, and I don't regret enjoying the foods I'm going to have to avoid in the future, but stretching it out for 2 months can definitely do some damage!
  2. Size aside, does anyone forsee/has anyone experienced a problem riding a roller coaster with the band? I was wondering if the motion/gravity of an extremely high, fast, or loopy coaster could make you uncomfortable or move the band. I know a lot of people get sick on roller coasters, and even if you don't, I'm wondering if your stomach would be going crazy. I LOVE roller coasters, so I'd love to hear if anyone has had any experiences with this.

I have done both NutriSystem and Jenny Craig (as well as every other diet under the sun) and I believe that Jenny Craig is SO much better. NutriSystem made me feel like I was eating military food meant to survive in a bomb shelter for 100 years. Much of the Jenny Craig food is frozen rather than shelf stable, so I feel like it is fresher and more "natural." It tastes SO much better and has much more variety. Most importantly, I actually had success losing weight on Jenny Craig, and I never lost a pound on NutriSystem. I'm sure some people like it and do well on it, but if you're choosing a program like that, JC is the way to go. Good luck!
  4. Is anyone else having a hard time staying in control of their diet with the pending surgery? I feel like I'm having the world's longest "last supper" ever! I think the mentality is that I'm going to finally get in control when I get banded, and I can just enjoy myself now, but there's WAY too much time between now and May and I know I can be awfully destructive in that time. Is anyone else going through this? Does anyone have any suggestions?
  5. Hi Cindy! Welcome to the board! I am a soon-to-be bandster with a lower BMI as well. I am scheduled for May 6th and I can't wait. I currently have a BMI of 32 with some comorbidities. I'd really love to keep in touch with you in regard to your progress...keep me posted! -Jessica
  6. Travellegal I'd love to hear how everything goes with your surgery and Dr. Hart. Keep me posted and good luck!
  7. Thanks so much! I personally like May Miracles, but if we decide to go with a different name I can do the same layout with the different name. I can also make it a little smaller if people prefer something smaller. Time keeps going by and I'm watching my ticker go down, but I wish May was here already! I'm ready to get started! :biggrin2:
  8. I did a logo for The May Miracles. Let me know what you think! May Miracles.bmp
  9. The website for True Results is Lap Band Surgery (Gastric Banding Weight Loss Surgery Experts) | True Results. You can view the location and contact information there, as well as schedule a consultation. It is an outpatient procedure, but it is performed at a hospital near the center. I don't know why the huge price difference! Let me know if you have any other questions!
  10. I am scheduled for May 6th with Dr. Hart at True Results Weight Loss in Atlanta, GA. The cost of my surgery is $15,500 and includes 2 years of aftercare, including fills and nutritional information. It also includes any hospital stay if necessary, and covers any complications as a result of the procedure. There are obviously less expensive places to get it done, but I feel this price is well worth having a doctor in my city and local fills. I also feel much more comfortable with knowing that complications are covered, as I am a self pay and I'm sure any additional procedures could get very expensive. I got my financing through True Care Credit, which the office recommended to me. They have two different financing companies that they work with, and you can choose the one that offers you the lowest interest rate or the financing terms that meet your needs. True Care offers financing for up to 84 months! Good luck!
  11. Hello and welcome! I live in Atlanta too! I am scheduled for May 6th with True Results Weight Loss, and my surgeon is also Dr. Hart. Nobody there was pushy about trying to talk me into the surgery, however one of the women wanted to get me scheduled sooner than I wanted. I had to go back into the office for a test and I just rescheduled with a different person. I liked Dr. Hart a lot when I met him and what I've heard about him has all been positive.
  12. My favorite is "No Time For Colds." It's in the same section as the Airborne and Zicam and it's in a blue box with big yellow letters. It always works for me!
  13. Could anyone please explain "sliming" to me? I've heard it meantioned quite a bit and I did a search on the board and can't find an explaination. I'm sorry if this has been addressed somewhere else. Thanks!
  14. Hey everyone! I am scheduled for May 6th with Dr. Hart in Atlanta, GA. It seems I'm the earliest so far...I'll have to be the May guinea pig! :biggrin2: It's good to know that there are others around my surgery date, we'll all be healing, learning, and shrinking together! I like the May Miracles but I look forward to hearing everyone's suggestions and voting as we get closer!
  15. Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone here has had their surgery done through True Results Weight Loss For Good or by Dr. Hart. I am located in Atlanta, GA and I'm scheduled for my surgery on May 6th with Dr. Hart. I'm pretty sure that the office in Atlanta is pretty new, but I know that True Results has offices across the country, and that Dr. Hart has had a lot of experience, so I was hoping someone might be able to share their experience. I'm particularly interested in hearing about the care they recieved AFTER surgery, such as fills, etc. Everyone at the center has seemed wonderful so far and I'm looking forward to getting banded!
  16. Thank you for the welcome, Susan! Yes, the team I work for is a NASCAR Nationwide Series team. We're not racing in this weekend's race, but we'll be at the track. Look for the 98 in Mexico City! :biggrin2:
  17. Hello all! This is my first post on this board, but I've been researching the Lap Band procedure for a long time, and have been reading this message board for weeks, so I already feel at home here. I am 25 years old and live in Atlanta, GA where I do marketing and PR for a race team. The Lap Band was introduced to me about 4 years ago by a nutritionist who recommended it to me. At the time I was still in college, and could not afford the surgery. Insurance wouldn't cover it, and my family didn't feel comfortable enough with the procedure to help me pay for it, so I had to push the idea aside. I began considering the procedure again when I saw a commercial for True Results Weight Loss here in Atlanta. I began to research it again, and found a lot more information than I did 4 years ago. Now at a point where I could afford the surgery myself (with financing) I felt like it was the time for me. After a consultation and a meeting with the surgeon, I am now scheduled for May 6th with Dr. Hart. My weight and BMI is lower than the average Lap Band patient, but at the age of 25 I have been overweight for 17 years, and I also have PCOS like many of the women on this board, as well as a node on my thyroid. At 5'3'' and 180 lbs with a BMI of 32, I have been struggling to lose weight for over a decade. I've had a little success with diets, excercise, and diet pills that made me jittery, but I've never been able to get off all of the excess weight, and have found myself putting on more weight every time. I certainly don't take surgery lightly and I look at this as an opportunity to end my obesity before it becomes even more out of control. I decided that it was time to get in control of my mind and my body, and experience everything that life has to offer that I've been missing out on due to my weight and the self-consciousness it has caused. I look forward to a life that is both physically and mentally healthy and I believe that the Lap Band is the tool that can give me that opportunity. I was wondering if there was anyone here who got banded at a lower weight and BMI and what your journey has been like. I was also wondering if anyone here could share their experience with True Results Weight Loss or Dr. Hart. Additionally, I'd be interested in speaking with anyone here in the Atlanta area who is going through this process. I want to thank all of you ahead of time for the courage, honesty, kindness, and strength you have all shown by sharing your journey and helping those of us who are beginning ours. Health and happiness, Jessica
