  1. AWESOME WEIGHT LOSS! I wish they had had the band when I was younger because believe me it is much harder when you get over 50. But everyday is a new day for this band journey. Some days I don't do so good, but I just wake up the next day and determine it will be a successful day. Yep, exercise and journaling food is the key to wl success.
  2. In 2008 Aetna in Texas did not pay for gastric sleeve. I went with my DH in December for the seminar and they still were not paying in Texas. He did say one patient that was self pay had complications, and her insurance did pay for the complications. There are probably a few insurance companies that pay in other states. Yep, they do basically cut you stomach to a pouch. The hormone in the stomach that causes hunger is gone. You do absorb all of the calories, but you don't eat much. You do have to take more vitamins than with the band.
  3. I think you are making a wise choice. Dr. Davis said I really needed the gastric sleeve because my BMI was so high, but insurance would not pay. It takes care of that hormone than causes hunger. You probably will lose a lot more weight. I wish you success on the sleeve. I would do it if I were in your situation.
  4. Long, Coke roast..........YUM! I will have to try it. So glad to see Grandma is doing great during this transition. Mom, well, hopefully things will get better. Take Care of Yourself! I have been walking everyday, but the ticker is not moving......I WILL keep it up and I know I will eventually go down.
  5. Peaches, you are looking good! .......and I love your quilts too!
  6. That is too funny. Well,Y'all....... I never thought about the lunch....dinner....supper thing till it was brought up on this thread. I call breakfast...breakfast and lunch .....lunch, but when it comes to supper , dinner...... I call going out to eat in the evening....dinner, and eating at home in the evening ....supper. Phyl, AWESOME WEIGHT LOSS! CONGRATS!
  7. Welcome Ms NeNe! You will get a lot of help here. Janet, our guru, started this thread. Her and all the other peeps will walk with you through this journey. So, hop on the bandwagon!
  8. Apples.....good now I can say supper and you won't laugh. Now where do you live? I want to come just for supper!
  9. Joann, WOW, that quilt is breathtaking. I wish I had seen it at the quilt show, but I didn't start going till 2003. Now I want to see the baby quilt. Please post a picture when you finish it.
  10. Joann, those quilts are awesome. Which one was in the International Quilt show? Thanks for sharing.
  11. Joanne, I would love to see some of your quilts. Do you have them posted on a website?
  12. Janet, notice anything?......I put my fur baby as my avatar. His name is Charlie.
  13. Wow, Joanne, you have really dropped the weight. You sure have a pretty daughter. I bet you can't wait to see them.
  14. Long, take care of yourself. Maybe those exercises have put a strain on your back. I hope your Grandmother settles in without any problems. It is so hard on the elderly to move. When we moved my mother to a retirement home she went in the hospital because she dehydrated. Having her in place with help will give all of you peace of mind. JANET.....where are you? Did I miss something? I thought your cruise was in a couple of weeks. I hope everything is okay. Apples, I sent you a message......I want your sugar free dessert recipes. Joanne.....you are doing awesome. I know you are getting excited about seeing your family. Pyllser.....hope you get to feeling better soon.
  15. I am glad he gave you a little. I had .2 of a cc last time and it really made a difference to me. I agree with him on the problems. I pb'd today only because I ate Chick fil A nuggets and got stuck. I just won't eat nuggets again. I thought I had the chew-chew thing down....I guess my bites were too big. The only thing about the band that I didn't know is how fickle it can be. When I had a cold I was tight. When I lift groceries or my grandbaby I can't eat for awhile because I am tight. I know....weird. Anyway, overall the band takes care of my hunger that always sabotaged any diet I would go on.
  16. Long, I wish you well on taking care of your mother. Remember, if you need to vent we are here for you. I am glad your ticker is moving again. Mine....well, it ought to move today. I did a bad thing....I ate nuggets from Chick fil A....got stuck....and threw up for 2hrs till it all game up. I know...too much TMI, but I am exhausted. I have learned my lesson....NO chicken NUGGETS!. I guess I will sip on tea and broth this evening. :tongue2:
  17. Hey, Donna.....pretty day in Houston. I think it is going to be a good week too. I plan on getting back to walking. I have been battling 3lbs for the last two weeks since my last fill. I lost it....then....I got a cold and haven't walked or exercised since. So, it is back again. I am back on the bandwagon, and I will have success this week!
  18. Welcome, Anne. We are all in this journey together. So get ready for some tough love and encouragement.:thumbup::hurray:

  21. When you lay down with your arms over your head it is easy to find the port. I have always been able to feel my port. Congrats on your weight loss and fill today!:thumbup:
  22. Awesome weight loss! I believe the band served it's purpose. I continue to pray for you and a successful surgery. I have had two surgeries that were for adhesions caused by previous surgeries. It sucks!!!! Let's pray this will be your last surgery. Take care!
  23. You are doing great! I have had a 7 fills and I am just at 5.1cc. I have restriction now....he tried putting a full cc in November, but I could not tolerate it. Everybody is different. Keep up the good loss!:tt1:
