  1. I guess it depends on your insurance company or if your self pay. I'm self pay and I started the process on July 21st and I think I'll have my surgery in about 6-8 weeks. It's not scheduled yet. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  2. I love ClusieL. She is so hilarious! Did you see her boob rant? So funny! Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App

  4. You can always get one of those foot pedallers, put it on a table and use it to exercise your arms. I've seen them as cheap as $20. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  5. MelanieSlicedThinner. I find her vlogs to be the most informative. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  6. I would ask you bariatric team if you could have an ablation of your uterus. You'll no longer have a period and you will still have your ovaries to continue producing hormones. That is, of course, if you plan on not ever having children. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  7. Thank you all for your advice! I truely appreciate it. :-)
  8. I've been stewing over this since June and I need some advice. In June, I had my yearly physical with my PCP. He was going over my numbers and decided to finally be honest to me about my weight and where I will be in 10 years if something isn't done. Okay. That's cool. He then proceeds to tell me, "I should have had this conversation with you years ago, but I didn't because I just don't ca-" he pauses and tries to restructure is sentence but goes off on an entirely different tangent instead. Honestly, I didn't hear a word of what he said after the pause because all I was thinking is that my doctor doesn't care about my health - the very thing I pay him to care about! Now, I feel as if I'm in a sticky situation because he approved me for WLS and I am waiting for clearance from my cardiologist (I have to take a stress test first). I've been hearing from many forums that you shouldn't change doctors when you are going through surgery. Considering my situation, my instinct is to ditch him and find a new PCP shortly after my surgery. What is your opinion on my situation? Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  9. Not me, since I haven't had my surgery yet, but this lady I was talking to at my handspinners guild told me she had WLS. This was only after the lady I was talking to before introduced me to her and then eventually walked away. She did not feel comfortable talking in front of a thin person who was never obese about her WLS. She tells these people that it's a special diet that is medically supervised (which is true), but never admits to them that she had an elective surgery to lose weight. She told me that these thin-never-fat-before people think WLS is done for cosmetic reasons, so it's just easier to lie by omittion. She felt more comfortable telling overweight and obese people about her WLS because they are more likely to understand her reasons for doing so.
  10. I'm having the BPD/DS and my doctor wants me on an 800 calorie diet for 4 weeks before surgery. I don't know if it's liquid or not. I hope not! I do know I have to do a colon prep though. I've had a colonoscopy done last October, so I know it sucks! Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  11. I have a stationary bike in front of my television. I get on it and pedal during my favorite program. Also, I made a chart. Each day that I exercise for 30 minutes, I give myself a gold star. Childish? A little, but it works for me. Plus my family sees the chart too, so I'm held accountable for my exercise. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App
  12. I would like to hear what is good to bring with you to the hospital. I heard that you should bring throat spray, mouth moisturizer (like Biotene), anti-gas meds, boredom busters (like puzzles or a Kindle), and loose clothing. Is there anything else you would suggest?
