  1. Hi! So first off I'm about six week post op and just started having shoulder and back pain again, as well as some leg muscle pain. I've already talked to my surgeon who said it was totally normal. However, since I can't take ibuprofen anymore to alleviate and reduce inflammation, I was wondering what other people do now since they can't take the pain reducer and inflammation reducing drugs. 8 was always prescribed high doses of ibuprofen when I had any body pain and it always took care of it. I have been icing and using a heating pad as well as taking long hot showers as my PT instructed when I had a small tear in my back from yoga a few years ago. I know the pain can also be a result from gas, but I'm pretty sure since I've had pain from exercise and carrying a backpack weigh to heavy for me that it's more of an inflamed type of pain. Let me know what everyone has tried over time and what has been the most successful! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hi I got it checked out, they just said its super common and I'm able to go to a chiropractor now. all I'm trying to figure out are ways to allievate the pain while I wait for my Chiro appointment, the first available was Sunday at 1:30.
  3. I'm not sure why they said absolutely no Advil ever again, but I never take Advil for pain only fever. They just said no ibuprofen for now, they may have had a reason but I forgot what it was. I'm just confused because all the gas pain was gone and it suddenly came back week 6 and I'm allergic to everything outside so I honesty can't walk outside. I have a treadmill but the gas is like near my chest left shoulder up to the top of the arm and it makes it hard to like even eat or drink now. I've had all the Med work done and all my incisions are healed and there isn't any problem like with a leak or those things, but since now I can't eat I'm all nauseous and the ice and Heat are doing nothing today. Sorry for the rant and random change of subjects

  6. @@ididit34, check out baritastic, it was designed for people like us who had bariatric surgeries. It's pretty cool, I've been using it since the day after my surgery. The reason I was asking about others was pretty much to use to compare nutrition and things because some apps don't have all the same amounts. But I guess I should have just been plugging the information in my self. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm in Georgia too!! And it's so freaking hot! I've been trying to walk my dog but the first week and a half I couldn't make it more than like six houses up my street without feeling faint, I feel like I'm never hydrated but I try super hard. I can't gulp yet, well I tried a few times, one time I felt okay but he second I fell like uck in my stomach. How are you spreading out your drinking? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hungryyyyyyyy

Yes it's totally normal to feel hungry, eat and feel okay! That would be normal before surgery or years after! You are eating well and the amount you eating satisfies your hunger! I'm only 21 days post op so I'm not an expert but I've been in the same boat Quick question, not related to your hunger, I haven't been able to exercise yet, I keep trying my I don't have enough energy for it. How did you start exercising? How long? What type? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tight chest

Hi! I had surgery the day after you and was pretty sedated with pain meds for a good five days that I was awful at using the air thing. I had the same problem with pain every time I took a deep breath. I'll start my story at the end, I'm 100% okay and pain breathing is completely normal, but also can sometimes mean you could have a complication. I went to the ER Tuesday night because my surgeons nurse wasn't sure what I should do about it and my surgeon was on vacation. All the x-rays and cat scans came back normal, turns out it's SUPER normal to have inflammation in the chest surrounding area. We just had a serious operation, the body is recovering after being under a lot of stress. The inflammation will go away on its own, it probs would go away faster if I was allowed to take steroids or ibuprofen but it's okay. I actually feel way better now. It still hurts to take a deep breath or yawn but since I know it's going to go away like all the other pain, it doesn't bother me as much as it did when I was in a panic. BUT you should call your surgeon just in case and explain it to him. My surgeon said that sometimes it's hard to understand the pain we are in just by talking over the phone, and getting it checked can never hurt
  10. Hi! Last night I went to bed completely fine, but when I woke up at 6:30am this morning my back was throbbing all over, I could hardly get up. I had to wake someone up and have them bring me all the ice packs in our house and give me a full dose of liquid hydrocodone in order to be able to make the pain go away. Has something like this happened to anyone? I know I've heard stories that pain starts out of the blew after surgery even after days and weeks, but just seeing if this is something pretty standard. 11. Extreme lower left pain, below rib under stomach fold, very severe. I did some research below and explained my story: Has anyone on this forum had these issues and how did you find it best to treat? Hi, basically I felt like I was slowly improving and on a path to easy healing. That all changed day 3 of my recovery. I was having no problems with my incisions, just pain here and there from laying in weird positions and stuff. I had my ON-Q pain relief still attached to my chest and it only hurt after my dog trying to cuddle with me and then jumped off the couch attempting to take the pump with him. On day 3, I woke up with a dull pain on my lower left side a little bit below my ribs. As the day went on it for worse and worse. Instead of a max of 3/10 pain I had felt previously, my pain was slowly getting worse. I assumed this was from lack of bowl movement and only a few occasions of passing gas. When we took the pain pump out, the left side jumped from bad to worse. After going to the bathroom before bed, which really ached my left side, I took oral pain medications and positioned my self for bed, a few hours later it was excruciating. My father had to helped roll me in positions and set pillow, ice, heating pads on and around me since I actually looking move without feeling like 10 knives stabbing my lower left side. After more hydrocodone, I started to do research, many people had similar pain and when they told their doctors they would send them to the ER for testing and unless it was an extreme case of leakage, ulcer, cyst, hernia etc, they realized it was from the incisions made on the left side to remove a portion and move around the stomach. Many people said it took them a few weeks to feel better, but the pain stayed pretty bad and taking strong pain medicine was crucial to get through the day. Other said compression binders saved the day, holder the stomach and muscles In place to minimize pressure and pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Positives? Negatives? 4) did anyone feel like they may of a had a bit of a tooth ache? 5) when you showered to you let your bandages get wet? Also when did you start showering without bandages? 6) Did anyone have very itchy incisions? 7) how did you plan your purée diet and real food diet? How do you keep up the weight loss? (I'm really into meal prep, or I was in college until the very end when school became so much), I loved to know any Pinterest boards, or maybe you can post a picture of your sample menus of puréed diet, introduction to foods & maybe a sample menu of what you eat now after a couple of months since your sleeve 8) Has anyone experienced hair Loss? 14. Hi! Thanks so much for the replies! I started sleeping in my recliner and now it's easier to get up. Other than having a lot of trouble moving when I woke up this morning, I've been able to function when I take the liquid hydrocodone that was prescribed to me before I was discharged. I'm sleepy and dazed on it, but I make sure to do my walking and any little things right when it kicks in and before it puts me to sleep! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
