    The H Word

I'm on day 7 today and I actually contacted my coordinator about just this issue. I feel very normal in all aspects post surgery, and normal for me includes being hungry. I'm usually ok during the day except when other people are eating around me, but come night time I'm dying for real food. So over these shakes. She told me it was head hunger and just continue with trying to get my fluids down. All I can do is dream of another 10 days or so before soft foods. My doctors plan doesn't include the purée stage. Hang tough! Mind over matter! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. It's nice to see you post about your positive experience. Most times in life people tend to only talk about negative experiences and don't speak up for positive ones. I am in similar boat. Had surgery 7-20-16 and tomorrow is a week. I feel fine. Only few new weird things like feel like I randomly get gas bubbles in my chest but it subsides in seconds. Today although I had 3 Protein shakes and 2 cups of chicken broth, I still feel hungry. Not sure if this is in my mind or what. I'm guessing it is. More than real hunger I think I'm just craving real food! Good luck with everything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. My wife had sleeve 7/1/15. She lost 120 lbs from surgery. After she got ok from surgeon, She removed her mirena on 2/25/16. She had to wait for a full period cycle and then we got pregnant in our first month of trying in April. She just passed the 4 month pregnancy mark and everything is great. She had a few issues with spotting, but hard to say if it was sleeve related at all. Either way it was nothing. I just had the surgery 7/20/16 so we can both be happy and healthy for the baby! Good luck with everything! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tomorrow it happens....

I'm in a similar spot as JKBtx. Had surgery on July 20th. Had to stay in hospital an extra night due to vomiting up blood. They actually moved me to icu but that wasn't necessary. I had surgical residences overseeing me and they panicked with blood and chest pains (gas). I'm home now and was supposed to go back to work today, but I just couldn't do it. I'm very dizzy. Anyone else experience this? Also I noticed almost every smell really bothers me. Like the nurses perfume made me gag and even tooth paste is funky. Gonna keep trucking along and try to go back to work tomorrow. Just scared to drive with this dizziness. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Insurance Says NO! BSCA

I have Aetna. My bariatric coordinator told me it wasn't covered, but my wife who has same insurance had the surgery a year before. Turns out the hospital wasn't an "institute of excellence". All that means that instead of insurance covering 90%, they covered 80%. It was obviously well worth doing it for the extra percentage, but if you don't know the right questions to ask insurance you won't get the right answer!
