I just spoke with a doctor who works in an addiction clinic. He said stay away from alcohol as bariatric surgery patients become highly susceptible to becoming alcoholic. Don't know any statistics on this... Just may be one person's opinion. I've never been much of a drinker and certainly don't plan to start.

I drank Diet Pepsi for 34 years. During that time I gained 250 lbs and developed two life-threatening autoimmune illnesses. Went off it 8 years ago and eliminated both illnesses. My opinion of "diet" soda and anything else with artificial sweeteners is it's detrimental to health and well-being.

Mine is August 19th. My insurance won't cover this so it seems to have been a very short time since I made the decision to have the surgery. I started the process last week of May. I'm not sure what else I have to do before the surgery. I have a three hour appointment on August 3 where I guess I'll be told all the details.
