  7. Before even me going into with Molina about bariatric surgery, I actually had an idea of what the insurance entailed and what I had to do, as a matter of fact I told the referral coordinator how to do the process, let me tell you I was well prepared. The day of referral I started dieting and exercising so I was a head of my self, so like a week later I get a call from the Molina case manager and there it began, she was amazed how much I knew, and where I was going for physical therapy and nutrition counseling, I scheduled my visits, I was approved for 12 visits in nutrition, physical therapy, and behavioral counseling. I only did 6 visits with nutrition and the other 6 will be with the surgeon, so I'm at the end of the rope, I have my surgery date, now just waiting for approval. I completed all visits but 6 for the nutritional counselor. They will only approve 12 visits for each. The problem only problem I had thus far was that the counselor I was seeing did not want to clear me for surgery so I waited two weeks for that process. It can get frustrating, but it's well worth the wait. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. Hi Ginsin, The surgeon who hopefully will be doing my surgery highly recommended the gastric bypass, I have researched both and the one that will benefit me more is the gastric bypass, especially for my BMI that I have. I am done with everything except it's up to the treating counselor. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  19. Has anyone had this issue where you treating counselor does not want state in the letter that she is clearing me for surgery???? This is the last step and I am frustrated that they might think I'm not a good candidate!! I'm morbid obese and have been preparing myself for this surgery!!! I have done research took a while to convince myself that I wanted to proceed with gastric bypass!! Any suggestions?? The last resort is my surgeon Doctor is going to talk to my treating counselor and see if he can convince her other wise I'm shyt out of luck I think or might have to find somebody else to clear me. 20. Good for you Little Tia!!! I thought about it long and hard, I almost backed out but I said to myself hmmm I did all these appts to better myself but this is what's going to help me get through my surgery and prepare me for what's to come after surgery. Little Tia I have always struggled with my weight. And I'm so glad it's time for a change. I am glad you are going to go through the with it!!! Good luck to you!! 21. I would definitely would recommend exercising and eating healthy before having surgery, it mentally prepares you for what's to come. Remember your body is going to go through a dramatic change. So it's only better to have your mind and body prepared. This is my personal perspective. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I'm only 2 months in and I've lost 40lbs already!! I did it naturally without any pills!!! I'm actually almost done with my visits but my BMI is higher than your so it wouldn't matter if I lost another 30 lbs. but that defeats the purpose I think in order for your mind and body to be prepared I believe having a certain amount of calories per day and exercise. Exercise is the key here. I used to take phentermine and my doctors have told me it's bad for the heart. Remember it is all in the mind. I would suggest maybe maintaining your weight cause if you loose to much and BMI is lower than 35 they may deny it just depending on your case. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
