  1. I hope you get your date soon. I've been thinking about you a lot. That's great news about your insurance!
  2. I'm July 15th and my endoscopy is the 5th. They got me in so quickly...I feel scattered. I'm trying to stay busy but it's still on my mind 24/7.
  3. I'm so happy for you!!!! BTW...did anyone else swallow their tongue when the hospital told them how much they would owe? I've been on the phone with billing all day. Thank heavens for payment arrangements!
  4. My doctors office called at 7:30 this morning and I was approved!!! I thought I would be scared but instead I'm really excited. Sadly, knowing me, that can change on a dime. Anywhoo....my endoscopy is next Tuesday, the 5th and my actual surgery is on the 15th! Maybe this day will bring many approvals to all of my new friends struggling with this. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you. I can actually cross my toes since they are freakishly long.
  5. A big congrats to everyone who got their approval! For those of us still waiting, stay strong. We'll get through this together.
  6. KYN13 You can do this! You are a strong woman that is taking control of her life. Find pictures of healthy women and post them all over your house/room! Go online and find clothes you want to wear or an outfit that you want to fit into by next Spring. Dream about yourself at that weight! Dream about going on a cruise or whatever vacation you want....and dream about yourself looking good on it! Use your dreams as a motivating factor and kick bottom. It's a few weeks. Get a calendar up on your wall and each day that you eat right and exercise put giant "X" on it. I'm a Sales Coach...I know what I'm talking about here. You have to want this more than food. Visualization is a HUGE motivator. Any other suggestions, folks?
  7. Woo hoo! Congrats! Keep us informed and let us know what date you start your life over!
  8. The only thing I had to do was the 6 month diet which has been less than fun. I'm right on the cusp of being "morbidly obese" and so I was told that I had to loose a pound a month but not to go below a certain weight. I hit that weight, went below it, and had to eat to bounce back up. Now I'm 3 pounds more than I should be! I'm worried about that too. To answer your question, I did not have to have the chest xray. My plan required the diet only.
  9. Do you have your date yet or are you waiting with the rest of us? I'm doing the exact same!! I'm so excited Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I love that we have a forum to discuss these things! After what I've read, we're going to need each other....especially the first few weeks after surgery. Is it bad that I'm already planning the clothes I'm going to buy once I loose the weight? I think my husband is dreading that.
  11. This is a great way of looking at it! Well, there are 3 of us waiting, waiting, waiting. Hopefully it will go well for everyone and we can cheer each other on post op.
  12. We're in it together. Has your doctor's office said how long it takes to get scheduled after the approval?
  13. Greetings! Long time lurker - 1st time poster. My Dr. office submitted for approval yesterday. She said we'd know in 15 days, if not earlier. Emotionally, I'm all over the place. I'm nervous, excited, happy, confused, you get the picture. How long does it normally take to have the surgery after approval? I suppose that depends on a lot of factors but ...in general...how long? I think what I'm most nervous about is telling my Rheumatologist. When I told my GP, she became very upset and explained that if I practiced a little self control, this wouldn't be an issue. So, I said goodbye to that 10 yr relationship. I don't want to do the same to my Rheumy. Work is another story altogether. I have no desire to tell the majority my plans. I love everyone I work with but I fear they may see optional/elective surgery as a selfish way to put undue stress on them. Thoughts? So....I'm waiting for my approval and while I wait, these are the things that flutter in and out of my mind. It's constant. No amount of distractions keep the thoughts at bay for long. Breathe...in through the nose....out through the mouth. T
