Feeling defeated
I have to take a nicotine test before I can get a date for surgery even though I'm approved. I have been vaping at 0 nic to help going cold turkey but I'll probably do nothing the last two weeks before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

PA Highmark BCBS PPO Insurance- I need help!
I have bsbc of tn and I have to see my doc for 6 visits about weight loss and my starting weight has to be higher than my final weight. There was no percentage of weight lost needed just that I had done something. I did start low carb and high Protein and I meet with my doctor today. The surgeon has booked an appointment for my lab work and tests in September but my doctor has a lady who works with the insurance requirements so she has been a great help. If you call the surgeon and talk with them they can answer a lot of questions. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

BCBS- TN
Mine with BCBSTN had to be supervised and documented by my PCP monthly. Thanks, mine does not state medically supervised and I found someone else with a similar plan who didn't have to be medically supervised either. I just wanted to be certain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

BCBS- TN
I am just starting the process and my bcbst did not say that the weight loss had to be supervised just that it had to be over 6 months within the last 2 years. I have that, but I'm curious if your documentation specifically stated medically supervised or not? I think the wording on the diet plan is pretty vague. I seriously cannot imagine trying to loose weight for 6 months it will feel like forever. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!
Some insurance companies do not post printable docs online sadly; others WON'T email specifics on bariatric surgery, go figure. I am someone who could get nothing firmly in writing. Fun! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App That is awful, I guess I'm lucky I. That respect I've been obsessively researching insurance. Mine did say that they don't cover the other tests for the surgery, but I asked if I had my pcp put them in as routine and they said they would be covered so I guess that's something to discuss with the surgeon. When to tell Boss?
Did anyone do fmla for the surgery? I'm wondering if it would be beneficial for any complications? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My insurance said 6 months of documented weight loss but it didn't say supervised. I have myfitnesspal showing this but I'm confused by how they get the info if it doesn't need to be supervised. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
