  1. I am a registered sleep technologist & an AHI of 5 or greater is considered positive for sleep apnea. That is an AASM guideline & does not differ from state to state. Medical directors can use their own guidelines. My guess is they are using RDI & not AHI.
  2. Research Southwest's Customer of Size policy. The Facebook group Flying While Fat is an amazing resource. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
  3. @@DebiW, please don't take yourself off of BiPAP without having another sleep study. Weight is not the number one cause of apnea. I've been in the sleep field for 10 years & some of the worse apnea I've seen was little, old, 90 lb women who stop breathing for 2 minutes at a time. 4. Typically yes, you can get a PAP script from just a home study but it depends on your insurance & referring physician. If your home study comes back positive, the doctor could write a script for an AutoPAP. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
  5. Find a sleep lab in your area that offers home studies. They are a lot cheaper & more convenient but not as thorough. I've been in the sleep field for 10 years so feel free to ask me any questions. ???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
  6. I would say it depends on what your date may be. Do you know how long your surgeon requires you to be on a liquid diet? Liquid diets are very hard to maintain. What I did was start a low carb diet a few months before my surgery. It definitely helps to get into ketosis before transitioning to liquids. You could do two Protein shakes & one healthy, low carb meal. Eating that way will help shrink your liver & get you into a healthy mindset. You may want to talk to your nutritionist to see if they have any suggestions for you. Also, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
  7. Hey! I am going at the end of July with Dr. Illan. Which doctor did you choose? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
