Weigh ins---- HELP
Does anyone know if the first consultation will count as my first weight in? I have aetna and was told that one doesn't count by a nurse. However that was really the 1st appointment. I weighed 250 at that one. The next appointment I was 246. My last appointment I was 247. I am afraid of not getting approved because I don't know which one they will count as my 1st appointment and they specifically say onr their site that you have to weigh the same or less on your last appointment.

Last weigh in today
So today was my last weigh in. My consultation I weighed 250, 2nd appointment I went down to 246, 3rd appointment no gains no losses, 4th appointment went down to 242..... and the last appointment today I weighed 247. I have aetna and I am terrified about that gain that it could keep.me from getting approved. is there anyone out there who went through something similar that could offer some advise? Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

My 1st visit with the office for my diet didn't count. So I will wind up doing 5 total. My last one is in December. I am wondering when they will submit for approval and when my liquid diet has to start

Ok I am wondering if that was you leaving while I was in the waiting area. My appointment was at 11. I was there around 10:40am today. Gray scarf on my head? Yeah, that was me. Did she give you samples of Protein shakes/powder and multivitamins? Ok so I did see you! what a coincidence! I did get the samples. I tried the Vitamins and it was actually kind of good.l

So I had my nutrition consult and it seems I will be on Track for an early February surgery date. I learned a lot. Especially the fact that I wasn't eating as often as I should! I feel like I'm on the right path now.

Cool! Myu unfortunantely my primary care would not do my visits (bummer). What insurance carrier do you have? I have aetna and boy I tell you they sure do make you jump through some hoops and don't really want to tell you anything until authorization has been sent. How is your diet going? Do you have any tips?

I stared my diet appointments about 2-1/2 months ago but I decided to go with my surgeons office dietitian so I am. Now starting all over again. I want to do things as smart as possible so I don't mess up my chances of approval. I am in MD in the Metropolitan area and was wondering if there's anyone close in the early stages like I am. I originally got the referral for the surgery back in February but chickend out but I refuse to turn back now. The liquid diet before the surgery is scary because I eat a lot and I am always hungry. So I have no idea what to do about that! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

Aetna Net weight gain
I am actually switching from the nutritionist I picked and going with the surgeons office. It's only a 2 month set back but I really feel like I will get better results this way. I want to get on the same scale so my measurements are always correct. Now I have to really focus on making sure the last weigh in is less than the first!

Call the insurance coordinator at your surgeon's office and ask if she can help you figure out detailed requirements. Some plans make you start over (with supervised diet) if you've gained at all. It all depends on your specific plan. Thank you. I am allowing myself to feel defeated but I will not quit! Thanks for the motivation.

Aetna Net weight gain
My BMI now is 38.8. I hate that the surgeons office won't submit for an authorization from AEtna until after I have done everything because aetna will tell me nothing so I will like I am running in circles.

Aetna Net weight gain
I went to the nutritionist for first time in june. Then 31 days later I went back and the scale said I was 3 lbs higher. I will have to check and see if the office allows are the phone visits. It says documented exercise... Who is supposed to document that???? I also asked several times how many nutritionist visits I needed and could never get a straight answer... This is what I found online: Nutrition and exercise program(s) must be for a cumulative total of 6 months (180 days) or longer in duration and occur within 2 years prior to surgery, with participation in one program of at least 3 consecutive months. (Precertification may be made prior to completion of nutrition and exercise program as long as a cumulative of 6 months participation in nutrition and exercise program(s) will be completed prior to the date of surgery.)
