  1. I'm 2 months or so into my 6 month process. I have numerous health problems, but have been approved so far. Before surgery is done, because of my heart, lung and kidney problems, I will need to be approved again. It will all depend on my heart and if my cardiologist thinks my heart can withstand the surgery. Sent from my KFTHWI using the BariatricPal App
  2. First I would recommend finding a hospital or surgery center that does the surgery. They may have an informational group or meeting that can help. I'm still about 4 months from surgery. The hospital, along with a group of surgeons, has a great system. Here's my experience. I went to a twice monthly meeting, facilitated be a nurse. She explained a lot of the process, then a surgeon came in and discussed what happens. Many people asked many questions. We were given some reading material and some forms. If you decide it's for you, you complete the forms and get them back to them. You will then get an appointment with the nurse, a dietician and an exercise physiologist. You'll set some goals and come back every month for generally 6 months, until surgery is scheduled. They lead you through the entire process step by step.
