    Lap Band Removal and Revision

I am having lap band revision surgery do to erosion to VGS next month in one surgery. I have completed my dietitian appointments and are waiting for pre-surgery work up dates and surgical date. I am very interested in hearing from anyone who has had this done. Your thoughts and how it turned out. Concerned about the removal and revision, but I don't want to leave it in either. Thanks in advance any insight would be appreciated.
  2. Does anyone have any idea or stats on if the risk is higher for Lap-band Revision to Gastric Sleeve?
  3. Thank you for your posts. I had a slippage and problems with the band so Insurance will cover Gastric Sleeve revision to be done the end of Aug. first of Sept. but I had so many issues with my band both I and my husband are nervous. I had re-flux for so long especially at night even with just water, and I definitely don't want to go back to that. You have given me hope that it will be a good fix.
  4. I have a couple questions. I had to go the ER due aspirating in my sleep (reflux, salivia??) found out my band had slipped. So have had all the fluid removed and approved for surgery.. but have questions about reflux and the Sleeve and Bypass. I keep reading Bypass has been around longer there for the " Gold Standard" anyone with any insight I am not sheduled yet for the surgery due to getting ready to travel out of the country. I can say now with the band unfilled its the first time I feel in forever that I can sleep without choking and lay on my stomach at night. Any words of insight would be appreciated.
  5. Hello fellow WLS people I am new to this, I have had a lap band for 7 years with minimal wt. loss and a few problems along the way. 2 hernia surgeries 1 regular, 1 fondoplication. Recently went to the ER due to waking from a deep sleep choking on my own saliva/reflux?.. went from once in a while to more than a few times at night. A trip to my gastroenterologist to find my band had slipped and needed to be removed. I am a candidate for Revision Surgery and have researched Vertical Gastric Sleeve surgery.... But I have some serious concerns about the choking issue with the band. Was I only choking because the band had slipped or can this problem happen again with the new surgery. It was very scary not to mention I would think dangerous (aspiration pneumonia) anyone else with this issue with band slip and what was the result after Gastric Sleeve Surgery. I should add since I have had all the Fluid removed from my band I have experienced no choking... Any insight or experiences to this issue would be helpful..Thank you, Angel-Whetstone.

    High calcium levels

May ask your Dr. to check your B12 levels. Its a level that gets over looked and takes awhile to show up but might explain some of your symptoms.
