  1. Unfortunately I don’t eat cottage cheese or eggs. I haven’t tried doing refried beans yet. I haven’t done cream of whatever soups. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!
  2. Ok. I’m two weeks out. My dr ordered diet is liquids and purée for the first four weeks. I’m so sick of broth. I’m tired of pudding. I don’t want mashed potatoes anymore. I’ve puréed green beans but I’m over it. I tried purée meat but that is a NO GO. Any ideas on good purée things I can do for the next two weeks?
  3. I had my surgery on the 23rd. I struggle getting my water/liquid in. I know it’s supposed to be 64oz but dang, that’s a lot. And I always have the feeling of being super full, so when I do drink my water, I feel like I’m overdoing it.
  4. I’m scheduled for July 23rd!
  5. I GOT MY SURGERY DATE! JULY 23! So excited.
  6. Oh my! I thought I had updated—my brain is scattered lol Yes! So, after going back and forth with the therapy office, I finally got my notes forwarded to the facility. I was cleared and then scheduled for my pre-op testing. I completed that this past Wednesday and now I’m waiting for the Dr to review my test results and surgically clear me. Once she does this, they will call to schedule my actual surgery. They’ll also schedule me for a required nutrition class at that time.
  7. After waiting an eternity for my therapist office to fax over my notes, my psych eval was cleared they sent my file to my insurance. It was approved within 24 hours. I honestly think it’s because I’m on year 3 of monthly visits to the weight management place here in town and I’ve been on medication to help with my weight loss for about 1.5 years. My next step is pre-op testing.
  8. I had my consultation and my psych eval. I’m just waiting on my recommendation letter from my pcp and because I already see a therapist, they had to also write a brief note. Assuming they come back positive, I’m cleared to move to the next phase. Which that is getting a letter sent to my insurance for approval of my surgery. Once it’s approved I can move to the pre surgery blood work. I do hope they get their letters in this week!
  9. Hello everyone. I have started my journey on a new life. The surgeon in my area requires a BMI of 60 or under. My BMI is 74. I have to lose 80 pounds to get to a BMI of 60. Upon being successful at losing that weight, I’m wondering if my insurance will see that as too successful and not approve my surgery. Anyone else have this issue?
  10. Ok good. I got worried for a minute about my food tracking! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I also have HIP Plus but it's not MHS. It's Anthem BCBS. I've been trying to find someone who has the same insurance that's already been thru the approval process. And is keeping my food journal on myfitnesspal ok? Or should I start writing it down? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. A family member of mine just had vsg in Richmond! Advanced Surgical Partners of Virginia. Dr. Matthew Brengman. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Have you been sleeved at the Lutheran Bariatric Center with Dr Sloan? Did you have anthem bcbs? How was your experience with the facility and him? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. You have to lose 8 more lbs? Was there a required amount of weight you had to lose? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Hey y'all. New to this! Seeing my pcp on Monday to start my 6 month documented non surgical weight loss that's required by my insurance. Also getting referred to see my bariatric Doctor probably then as well. I'm ready for this! I'm 32, 430 lbs 5'6" wife and mom of 4! Whew that's a mouth full. This is the first time I have ever announced my weight. My own husband doesn't even know how much I weigh. I'm ready for the VSG! I'm hoping that there isn't too much of a weight loss requirement for surgery. I've always struggled with dropping lbs. I can get 15lbs off and then i stall, majorly. How did y'all get thru the 6 month pre op waiting and dieting? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
