I will start a thread here incase it helps someone else. I am schedule for rny on June 3, 2016 and couldn't be happier. I started this journey March 2015. I'm a teacher and was hoping to have surgery before school started in August 2015. I got approved but couldn't have surgery in time to go back to work. I scheduled for 12/15/2015 but then got pneumonia and surgery got canceled again! I am now scheduled for 6/3/2016 and today I went the the preop appointment and got the green light! All that is left is blood work on Monday, May 23 and then surgery the next Friday! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Okay I'm scheduled for Friday, June 3rd. My pre op appointment is this Thursday, May 19th and I will get my pre op diet regimen etc. Then on Monday, May 23 I will have blood test etc. to make sure all is well. Then wait for the day! I too struggle with depression and take meds. Currently it is managed and has been for a while. Now that surgery is close I'm worried about keeping up with the meds after surgery. I have schedule some appointments to talk to my counselor during this process just in case. He is so great! He said I can cancel if I don't need to talk. I have schedule appointments 2 weeks post op, 1 month post op and 6 weeks post op. At least the time is set aside for me if I need it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am so glad you posted this. My goal weight is about the same and my BMI is 39 and I keep thinking that maybe I should keep trying to lose weight on my own, but then I realize that I've been this overweight for a long time and I haven't been successful yet! I will say that having postpone surgery and wait from 12-2015 until 6-2016 went fast. Once you have qualified and everything is set then you just continued with life. I think all the appointments and wondering what is the next hoop you have to jump through, is what makes this seem like an unending process. I got that all out of the way back in Dec and now my surgery is around the corner! It went fast so hopefully Aug to Oct will go fast for you too! I would live to keep in touch! I did not criticize anyone's post. I stated what I wanted in a reply post; support and I am not being over sensitive. I was looking for support, plain and simple. Please read all posts before responding. I was not more concerned with "getting a surgery than going into that surgery fully healthy" as you stated Daniel and those are very opinionated and critical words in your part. You do not know me. Why is everyone so judgmental and picking apart everyone's post here, not just mine, but each other's as well. I think we have enough outside forces to defend ourselves against, we don't need to turn on each other. I was just looking for support in general advice or words of wisdom from someone who has been through something like this. It is Saturday and I already planned on calling first thing Monday morning. Why would I expect anyone to speak for my surgeon? Anyone who goes on here expecting professional advice, shouldn't.
