  1. I am using Probiotics and still attempting to get a referral to a consultant who specialises in this problem. Once the antibiotics finish, my symptoms seem to reappear. Very frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I still have C difficile unfortunately. Back to my GP Thursday to discuss what happens next. Had a course of Metronidazole, then a course of Vancomycin. I think the Vancomycin was doing some good but once the course was finished, the C diff came back. Thanks for asking, how are you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Had a re test that has come back clear. The test was a week ago while I was still on vancomycin. The course finished Saturday. I know that there is a chance of reoccurrence. Does anyone with experience know the time scale for the return of the infection post antibiotic treatment? I can't get into my GP until Thursday to discuss this. I am five days post antibiotic treatment and I feel very unwell. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I did. They insist on it. And they won't re test for c diff while I am there either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Thanks. I simply have no idea what's happening now. I just know that the pain is becoming unbearable so hospital seems inevitable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. That's what the paperwork says but that's what the GP's nurse and microbiologist prescribed for me. I have moved the colonoscopy due to the severe pain, up to Wednesday (soonest outpatient appt) so moviprep from Tuesday will mean severe diarrhea anyway. Not really sure continuing the vancomycin is wise until after that. District nurse came out to draw fast track bloods because my GP surgery is worried about sepsis. My hospital bag is by the door so if things get much worse or the bloods come back bad, I am ready. I certainly feel rough. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. That's what I wanted to know. I took one dose and went to bed. No real change. Took a second dose this morning and my symptoms increased dramatically. It scared me so I called the nurse to ask for advice. She phoned the microbiologist who said that it can't be the vancomycin causing issues. Next step would be Accident and Emergency for admission. I am trying to avoid re admission to the hospital at all costs but will have to go if I get any sicker, I know. So I don't want to run down there if this is just how the process works. I would rather rest in my own bed and use my own toilet and shower. Thanks for your reply. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Has anyone taken this antibiotic for c dif? Did it help you? I have taken two doses and my symptoms have dramatically increased. The nurse says that I should persevere. Just looking for opinions. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. So desperate are the bullies now to discredit me, instead of staying on topic, blatant lies are being told. Now my disabilities are "all in my head", my therapist is now a liar (and he does find forum "gladiators" amusing due to the ridiculousness displayed), CBT counselling for pain and disability mgt is now "mental instability", and my reality is not true because it was not your experience. It is this constant attacking against me personally that speaks volumes. These people desperately need me to join the "I love my sleeve" club. I never said that it is not useful to some people, just not all people. I can't turn this "tool" off. I never blamed the sleeve for contacting c diff. I contracted it in an NHS hospital. It went untreated for at least eight weeks. It was not diagnosed because my bariatric nurse refused to listen. Abdominal problems are "expected" etc. Two stool samples were not tested fir c diff. Stop calling me a liar. I have already started a case with PALS. I will follow up with a legal case if I have to have longterm future treatment at my expense. My bariatric team do not support me. I have more than paid for my treatment in insurance contributions. No one here can dispute that as my income hasn't been discussed yet. I am sure that will be next, so obsessed are some people here with me. Just stick to topic if you are intelligent enough. I am four months in. I don't like my sleeve. Fact. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. If only I could have made the decision to not be disabled anymore. Then I wouldn't have lost the ability to walk, cook, shop etc. Then I wouldn't have gotten so fat. We disabled people should just try harder. Wow! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. What a load of lies! You can't change fact. I can document everything I state. Just because you came off crutches doesn't mean I will be suddenly cured of fibromyalgia! So ignorant. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Ridiculous. My child's OPINION on my situation pre op, does not make it fact! Nor does it change this actual topic. You can't "help" me like a sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Okay, this is going to be my last post directed towards you specifically. You somehow managed to miss the entire point even though I put it in bold. The point is that now that you're post op you're blaming your weight gain on your situation and specifically saying that you didn't have a problem with food and the entire thing wasn't your fault. When you were pre op, however, you blamed an addiction towards food and said that you couldn't stop overeating. You can't have it both ways, that was the point. It had nothing to do with your daughter. Sounds like you change your story depending on what suits you best. Once again, best of luck. Refer to other responses for yet more scintillating details of my life history. I am thrilled that you are so interested in trying to call me out, investigate me, insulting me etc rather than stick to the topic. Some people, including people here who message me, just don't like the sleeve. Stop deflecting. Stop trying to change the topic. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Excellent! Fantastic! Now this is helpful. You read my story and then did more research! Well done! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Ridiculous. My child's OPINION on my situation pre op, does not make it fact! Nor does it change this actual topic. You can't "help" me like a sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App In your post, you said you have a food addiction... you said it yourself. That's what she's referring to, not what your daughter said! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App I was assessed formally, no food addiction. My disability does prevent exercise. I have spent years being more than that percentage bedbound. I did feel that I was overeating in comparison to how much I moved. Hence the bariatric referral. But I wasn't eating anymore than a normal human. Just couldn't move. 15. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App I did briefly discuss food addiction. I presented to be assessed. No food addiction. Turns out most humans have the desire to eat food. Go figure? I felt that I was overeating because I gained weight. A two year nutrition assessment showed that my diet tended toward no cook carbs (sandwiches etc) due to my disability. I have been bedbound and housebound for several protracted periods in the past five years. Resulting in weight gain. Thank you for your indepth interest in my personal story. Each post raises more awareness of my story. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. If your therapist thought cognitive behavioral therapy could "cure" fibromyalgia then it's because they thought it was in your head. There's no therapist that thinks doing CBT will cure a physical problem. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App My CBT believes that ANYONE can be cured of chronic illness through subconscious and conscious behavioural therapy. So now you purport to know what my NHS CBT therapist thinks. Hilarious! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Now starting a course of vancomycin for two weeks. Has anyone else used this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I know what you are saying. After so many years in the program, meeting all the requirements etc. I do see a "just give me a date" mentality. I was told by experts "this is your only option" so why would I question it. My CBT counsellor through pain mgt hinted that this was a bad idea because he felt CBT could "cure" fibro and CFS therefore my mobility would return and the weight would go back off naturally. My bariatric team are not supporting me now. I have met all the weight loss goals so am ahead to them. I will have a colonoscopy in a few weeks and my surgeon will tell me what's next for the colitis. A triage nurse is contacting a microbiologist now and will inform me if how the GP wants to proceed. The sleeve is now way down the list with all my healthcare providers. I assume that the team will want to see me at the six month mark but who knows. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. No, never saw it. Of course, I wasn't expecting to lose so much weight so fast so it wasn't discussed. I only researched "normal" post op procedures. Was told by the surgeons and bariatric nurse that it would "be a doddle". Why would I doubt the experts? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I "fabricate" nothing. I can document everything I say. I have witnesses and fellow patients like me as friends. There is no help offered to me now because I am different. I dislike my sleeve. I have lost far too much weight, far to fast. I am still losing 5 to 7 lbs a week. I do not deny any of the truth. It is people insulting me that has caused this thread to become abusive and aggressive. The fact is this, I dislike my sleeve. Deal with it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Every question I asked pre op was "don't worry, we haven't had blah, blah happen in 400 surgeries". Every question I asked post op was answered with " so sorry, this has never happened before". Except it did, to many other patients who were sleeved with me. That simply is omitting the truth. So it is clearly possible omissions were made pre op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Ridiculous. My child's OPINION on my situation pre op, does not make it fact! Nor does it change this actual topic. You can't "help" me like a sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I find it odd that you quote and reply to this message, yet you blatantly ignore being called out for the discrepancies in your own statements... I'm thinking you need to take this to your local news instead of here, Gina. Whatever you are going through, this will not make you a "whistleblower", and whomever you choose to "take on" here is really of no service to you. No one here can help you or your situation. No one here can change your healthcare access or treatment protocols. Perhaps actually standing up and shedding light where it has the most impact- in your community- would be the most prudent choice. You mentioned having OT's move you. I don't understand why they are in charge of your housing? Perhaps you are on some type of government assistance and housing- which is fine, I pass no judgement on that. However, perhaps a move to an area that has better hospital service would be a consideration. If you stood back a moment and realized that your retorts back to people here is what stirs the proverbial hornets nest, you'd come to see that your silence would, indeed, stop the insanity this has become. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes they are in charge because I am disabled and my current housing is unsuitable. I have already said that I am going to other hospitals where available. Chicken and egg. They post, I post. People come here to this thread, I never ever comment on other people's threads anymore as I have been hated on since I declared that I dislike my sleeve. If it is insanity, it is other people causing it. If you like your sleeve, don't comment on me disliking mine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. This thread may have gone off topic but that is no reason to shut me and the original topic down. I do keep trying to urge people to keep on topic and maybe not post unless they have had the sleeve and don't like it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Yet again, an inaccurate post. Misinformation caused ME to make a wrong decision therefore I am highlighting my experience. Of course I have discussed with my child that she was right and I was wrong! Why would I discuss it here and not with my family. You neglect to mention that I almost DIED post op and my friend almost died post op. I did research mortality rates at my local hospital and my bariatric program. All we keep hearing is "this has never happened before, sorry". Just delete the emails when you see them in your inbox. One button. Use it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Then why sling them? Just move on. Leave us who dislike our sleeves here. We simply want our voices heard. m Why do you want to silence us so much? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Gina, I want it to be clear that I'm not looking to silence you in any way whatsoever. What I am looking to do is find out why some people (and I'm not really talking about you, but others who've posted in this thread) seem to have so very little information/understanding of the procedure they've had, and what can be done to change that. If someone says "I thought I'd be able to eat anything, just less of it", then they weren't truly knowledgeable about what was going to happen and IMO, true 'informed consent' was not obtained prior to surgery. I was given a couple of lightweight handouts prior to my procedure, but I supplemented that with copious research...it would be impossible for ME to go forward with anything this serious without investigating it to the limits of my ability. Maybe it's because I work in healthcare, and am married to someone who works in healthcare, that I've never assumed that any doctor/nurse/caseworker has the time, concern and/or inclination to tell me EVERYTHING that may possibly arise from any procedure, medication, etc. Your situations sucks, plain and simple. If I had been in your shoes, with the health concerns you already had, I wouldn't have considered VSG for even a moment. But clearly, the information needed wasn't readily available to you and I find that concerning, in an abstract sense. Is it a shortcoming of the NHS system, or is it global and involving many/all healthcare systems. I have family who've lived in Europe all my life and they've used nationalized health systems with great success, and I have family in the US who've been utterly and completely failed by our for-profit health systems. My local bariatric program is not executed well. It is scarce in it's information, appts are rushed as is surgery. I met all the surgeons in our program pre op, then on the actual day, it was a surgeon that was new that I had never met. I only got to speak to him briefly just before he operated on me. I had never met my anaesthetist until minutes pre op. I, and others in my pre op stream feel that the surgeries should stop for now while the team concentrate on treating veterans who are still sick. Our post op care varies dramatically patient to patient. My particular hospital was going through industrial action during my surgery. I wasn't informed and it wasn't made public until I was post op and I saw the screens on computers and saw the employees crying and organising meetings in hospital rooms, kitchens etc. You are correct. I should not have gone ahead with surgery. Thank you for discussing the actual topic. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
