  1. I didn't have them. I didn't even have the massaging things on my legs during recovery.
  2. The pancreas regulates your blood sugar, no blood sugar=death. You receive a pancrease from a deceased donor. Maybe you should research what the pancreas does and you will see for yourself you can't live without one. BTW, I have a kidney transplant.
  3. $1,000 omg, that is unbelievable!! I'm self pay and just had my first fill today, it had better not cost that much, I was thinking maybe $150.
  4. From everything I've read on here, it sounds like you are too tight. Has your surgeon suggested taking out some of the cc's you have? I just had my first fill today so am not familiar with what you are experiencing. Is there another surgeon in your town you can see? You really need to get to the bottom of this.
  5. Miralax worked wonders for my son who, as the doctor put it, "had a colon full of crap". It doesn't work overnight but it did work within days. He had to have it everyday for 3 months. I would try Miralax. That is my plan if it happens to me.
  6. the whole point of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver, the smaller it is, the easier it is for the surgeon. If you can do the 2 weeks, I say go for it.
  7. You are fine. Don't beat yourself up. Your surgery will happen.
  8. I use Quest Whey protein with milk and I really like it. You can also google Unjury and they have samples you can order. Nectar is also another brand. I got the lemonade version and didn't like it.
  9. My driver's license weight is no longer a lie!!!
  10. My first fill is 7/17. I have a 5cc band. My doctor said they usually put 1.5 or 2.0 cc in the first fill so it doesn't sound aggressive to me.
  11. It's not because of the band, it's because of the healing from the surgery. I had a kidney transplant and they told me they wouldn't do it if I smoked because of the problems it causes healing. You have to have stopped smoking at least 2 weeks prior to surgery before my doctor would touch me. I quit smoking 9 years ago so I didn't have a problem but you really do need to stop before your surgery, not just because it is bad for you, but you can have complications because of it.
  12. I didn't use pre-made shakes, I bought protein powder and added it to either milk or water. I used Quest protein powder that I bought at a pharmacy in my town. I've also tried Unjury powder and it isn't bad at all. You might see if you can find a powder and try to make your own shakes.
  13. I had my surgery last Wednesday. I was knocked out at 7:15 and the doctor came out to talk to my mom between 9-9:30. The PA had told me it takes about 45 minutes to get everything ready before they make the first cut. My last 2 surgeries, I always get sick the next day because of the anesthetic, this time I didn't. They had given me a prescription for suppositories for nausea but thankfully I didn't have to use them.
  14. I peed on my own at 3 am!! I think I willed myself to do it. I didn't want to go to the ER & get cath'd and have to pay all of that money. I'm still very sore, which is to be expected but I'm hanging in there. I'm drinking and resting and taking my pain meds. Hope all of the rest of the newly banded people are doing well.
