  1. Great to meet you all yesterday! Thanks to Elsie and Marge for the lifts - I would have been totally lost without the two of you. We should try and arrange meet ups more often, it was great to get to chat to you all without having to worry about my spelling! Will be checking my work schedule today so I can book in with Dr DeB ASAP Siepie
  2. Hi Marge, I have a meeting with Dr DeBruyne on the 3rd, I'm excited and nervous and have a bunch of questions to ask him - if there is anyone travelling from Limerick I'd be happy to meet up with them, I'm not sure whether I will drive or catch the train. My appt is for 12.30pm. Ailbhe, Elsie, Marge-are you planning to meet up in the morning? Simone
  3. Hi Just thought Id drop a note saying hi to all the Aussies back home who have bands - Im currently living in Ireland and looking to have a band fitted in March in Brussels . Hope you are all doing really well with you journeys, Australia is leading the way with the use of the band, doctors here in Ireland hadn't heard of it till I printed off research from back home Simone
  4. Hi All, I've been reading with interest all your experiences with lapbanding. I have been researching Dr Dillemans and Dr De Bruyne at the moment. I'm waiting for Dr Dillemans to get back to me but have scheduled an appointment with Dr De Bruyne in April. I'm 5'10 and weight close to 18 stone, making my BMI approx 35 - I have type II diabetes and high blood pressure so with those two issues I'm hoping Im a good candidate for surgery. I have a load of questions, some of which I will try and get answered from existing posts. It's nice to meet people in Ireland - do you have a support group going or anything like that? I'm going to see my GP this week to get a letter of support, I saw the posts re the Med 1 issues so I thought better safe that sorry and I need to see him anyways. Sorry for the long winded post - look forward to getting to know you all Simone
  5. Hi All, Ive been investigating lapbanding for a good few months now and I have my first consultation with Dr Chris DeBruyne in Dublin on April 3. I'm 5'10 and 244 lbs which makes my BMI around 35. I've battled with my weight most of my teenage and adult life and I think that lapbanding will be the tool that will finally let me be successful in managing it. Not sure how many Irish people use this site, I'm actually Australian but have lived here 5 years now. Hi to you all, I'm sure Ill have a bunch of questions as I go on. Look forward to getting to know you all better Simone
  6. Ive been doing some research and been in contact with him via email. I am meeting with him in Dublin on April 3. Any info or feedback Ive had so far has been very positive
