  1. I just had the sleeve done by Dr. Cervantes there last Wednesday 4/4/18. He does his surgeries out of two different hospitals there. I was a Florence. But travelled with another one of his patients who was at the Guadalajara hospital. He was amazing as well as all of his staff. I researched doctors for about a year, and ultimately chose him because I couldn't find EVEN ONE incident on him! Plus, he is a trauma surgeon, so I thought that would come in extremely useful in case of an emergency. He's the sweetest, most, mild-mannered man ever! Do your research. Join FB groups, etc. You have to do what makes you comfortable. He has a support group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1249152785176000/ YOu can request to join and just read comments on, etc... I'm on there an am happy to answer anything I can on FB messenger.

  3. I told my boss (owner of our small company of less than 30employees) a few weeks ago that I was going through the steps for qualification for weight loss surgery. He was happy for me and said to let him know for there was anything "they (the company)" could do to help. I let him know I'd have a lot of doctors appointment leading up to it but to it but that was all. This week i found out that the surgery is excluded from our group insurance policy (even though i myself as well as the surgery center confirmed t was covered) and I will now be a cash pay patient. I even checked to see if it could be added to our policy. My boss would agree if so. Our insurance broker said no. A reputable surgeon in my area does it for $12k. I was prepared to pay my insurance out of pocket max of $6k (care credit or credit card) but not $12k. I've considered asking my boss if they could either pay the other half. Has anyone had an employer help? If so how should I approach? Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Anyone had help from employer for surgery?

Any update? Did you employer help? What have you decided. I think surgery is excluded from my health plan.

    BCBS- TN

Thanks for sharing!! I am just starting this process with BCBS of Tenn. When i went to the bariatric surgeon's seminar thing (Vanderbilt) they had all of my insurance info requirements ready for me. Now, I'm trying to get with my primary care doc to help diagnose some of the comorbidities that I've not previously been diagnosed with (since my BMI is just SLIGHTLY under 40). I hope he can help. I've recently been diagnosed with HBP, and last week's blood work showed i have elevated LDL, and i took a 1 hour glucose test, and tested high on it... just to read the fine print from insurance saying it has to be the 2 hour test! So, i'll have to re-take it on Monday at my pcp doc office. if it is still high, then i believe i have my 3 comorbidities that are required. Then to get my pcp to even agree to recommend it.... Then i can go back to the bariatric surgeon with all the "pre-requisites" i need for them to take me on. Wish me luck!
