  1. Hi, I haven't written for a long time because I did not want to be discouraging to anyone. I entered the hospital for my lapband procedure May 7 surgical day went fine. The next day while in the hospital I ended with more than severe pain. I turned blue was placed on oxygen. I was to swallow the xraY fluid complaining of extreme nausea i begged not to drink more and was told I needed to keep trying I ended throwing it all up. Went to emergency surgery where they found my lapband not only slipped it ripped a hole in my stomach. They had to remove the band, clean my abdominal cavity patch the hole. Upon xray I had aspirated the xray fluid and ended up with toxic pneumonia. I was in the hospital 11 days discharged having no lapband and a WBC of 25,000. the whole thing was a nightmare. All these things were very minimal risks, but they were 100% for me. I don't want to be discouraging, but people should know it could happen to them too.
  2. Thanks I'll give that a try my next day at work.
  3. For my 2 week preop diet I get 3 cans of slimfast a day this is 570 cals a day. I am on day 5 its not as bad as it was, but at work Iam a nurse and walk a lot I felt like I was going to pass out. Just interested in what other people have had for their preop diets.
  4. Thank you it was really nice to hear from a person who still enjoys their food in moderation and stays healthy at the same time. That is my goal I have too many other interests to be worried about feeling sick every time I eat. Although I have a feeling it will will take several months to be where you are now. Thanks for the hope.
  5. Hi, I get banded on May 7. I did a lot of research and feel good about my decision. My biggest question which I have asked several people, but still feel I don't understand is when eating do you feel satisfied or restricted by this procedure. I guess I have this fear of never having an enjoyable meal again.
  6. Hi, I'm May 7 and I'm on the 2 week liquid preop. Everyone said your not hungry after day 3. They are wrong, but I'm getting through. As it gets close I'm getting a little nervous.
  7. Thanks for the pictures. I just started my 2 week liquid before surgery I'm feeling a little deprived but your picture was motivating.
