  1. I just had a horrible PB/ slime experience today. I was starving and I stopped and got a small chicken cheese steak, planning to only eat half. Needless to say I only made it past 3 bites and I experienced pain so bad I thought I was in labor again! I had to pull over 3 times while drive and the whole episode lasted about an hour and 15 min. I thought about going to the ER, or driving straight to my doctor's office. I made it home and I had to use a popsicle stick to gag myself causing some mucous and who knows what else to come up. I still feel like I am physically drained from the whole thing and I feel sore on my left side where the band is. I think the thing I need to keep in mind is I should have had a nice yogurt and string cheese for lunch and this wold not have happened. I am interested to hear about other experiences like this and what you can do to make it better. I NEVER want to go through that again......
  2. Hello...I would like to join the July challenge! I need to get back into the swing of things. I am going with a total of 25 treadmill miles this month, and anything else I can fit in will be a bonus. Tonight I did 3.18 miles on the treadmill. Good luck to everyone!
  3. I went and bought the Biotin the other day. I've been taking it for about 4 days and I can definitely see a difference. I am 3 months post op and my rapid hair loss started this month. I am so glad I found this thread about Biotin, I had never heard of it before. Last week I was scared to cook dinner because my hair was falling out all over the place. It has been much better after taking the supplement, what a difference. Thanks everyone!
  4. Is Biotin available over the counter? My hair has been really falling out a lot. It sounds like it is due to my high protein intake.
  5. I just finished running/walking 3 miles on th treadmill. I am motivated more than ever now because I am noticing the difference on the scale when I work out. I would like to be under 200 by the end of the summer, we'll see!
  6. Hello~ Just wanted to check in! Today I ran/walked on the treadmill 2.51 miles. I missed several days lately and I will have to really step it up to meet my 35 miles by the end of June. I also have to update my weight...recently lost another pound! Salsa....if I lived near you I would hire you to be my trainer....LOL!!
  7. I found out that I have the APL band that holds 14cc's. Right now I am at 7 cc's and I have another fill tomorrow. I think 8 or 9 will do the trick for me.
  8. Well you have all motivated me to get started. I used to be very athletic and loved to run, but right now I am very out of shape! I did 2 miles on the treadmill tonight and I feel great. My plan is to continue with 2 miles at a time until I hit my 35 mile goal for the June challenge. After that I will increase to 3 miles to really get in shape for July! Salsa, you are my inspiration...thanks!
  9. No, it's not that I can tolerate it...I can and that's the problem. I watch though because I don't want to ever vomit from drinking so I am very careful. I just think that a drink here and there adds calories that I shouldn't have. I'm just not ready to give up a few drinks on the weekend but I realize I need to make up for it with exercise. I guess what I mean is I'm having a hard time not drinking like *Love* said in the video.
  10. That was a great explanation...never heard that from my doctor! I'm having a hard time with the alcohol myself....
  11. Hello everyone, Thanks for the invite salsa, I needed this motivation! I am just jumping back into exercise so I am going to commit to 35 treadmill miles and anything else I can fit in will be a bonus. I'm looking forward to the challenge!
  12. I was filled during surgery with 4 cc's. I did not know it at the time and figured I was so hungry post-surgery b/c I needed a fill. 6 weeks later I was bumped up to 5 cc's. I am now at 6cc's and not feeling too much restriction, I hope my next fill works!
  13. I am now up to a total of 6 cc's and I don't feel like I have any restriction...I can still eat whatever I want and that's not a good thing....hoping 7 cc's does the trick.
  14. neverb4, You and you family will be in my prayers. Best of luck tomorrow, you will be fine. Take care and we will see you in band land!
  15. Good luck realmccoy!I hope everything is ok for you. Let us know how you made out....
  16. Pashee~ Can I ask what kind of band do you have and how many cc's is your fill now?? Thanks!
  17. I ran out and bought the $60 Alli kit when it first came out. It was HORRIBLE. I was thinking it was going to curb my appetite, instead it caused highly abnormal bowel movements. So I have 3/4 of a bottle that I wasted....I thought Alli was going to be my big weight loss miracle or something. Instead, my band is my miracle and I will never waste $$$$$$ on dieting ever again.
  18. Jersey Girl here......
  19. I still feel pain in my port area once in a while when I bend over or move in weird position. It's a sensitive area that takes a long time to heal. My port also sort of bulges out quite a bit....Dr. said that would go away with weight loss. What you are feeling sounds normal as far as what I've read here. Take care!
  20. Hi! I am glad to hear you are feeling great about your 2nd fill. I have had 1 fill so far and my second is in 2 weeks. I was discouraged when my 1st fill didn't seem to make a difference. I am hoping to be as happy as you sound when I get my 2nd fill! Good luck!
  21. I was really freaked out by what I have read about drinking here on the forum. I started drinking a little here and there about 3 weeks after surgery. I can drink about 3 beers at a time(very slowly) and I am fine with that. I realize that that is about 300 calories but I try to make up for it in some other way.
  22. Wow! That is amazing that in 8 months you have made so much progress! I am hoping to be able to run 3 miles again soon..I used to be able to about 4 years ago. Just wanted to say great job! I am almost 2 months out and I have no regrets either. I have lost 20 pounds so far and I although I am loosing at a slower pace now....I am a lot better off than I was 3 months ago. My eating habits have changed and I will be healthy in the long run because of my band. Pre-op worries are normal....I was the same way! You will be fine! Good luck.
  23. I use Profect protein capsules. I order them through the website. They have 25 grams of protein in a 3oz. capsule(looks like a test tube).
  24. I have been having the same problems, Linda. I am almost 2 months out and have only lost 20 pounds, and that number may be less as I think I may have gained recently. I have a 10cc band with 6 cc in it right now and I feel no restriction. I feel like I can eat whatever I want....good or bad foods, doesn't matter. I am feeling guilty for eating too much. I am making better choices but my portions are way too big for someone with a band around their stomach! I know I need another fill, but I am wondering if my band will ever work for me. My doctor did also say that I would loose slower as my BMI is lower...I hope he is right! You are not alone..I am in the same boat!
  25. I went for my "first fill" the other day only to find out that I had already had 5cc in my 10cc band. I was shocked. Leading up to the "fill" I was starving and eating more than I should have with NO problems. My Dr. said he always fills the band during surgery, I had no idea. I was thinking....well why the heck am I so hungry then? So I got another 1cc to bring me up to 6cc total and I am still not feeling restriction. I am calling in the morning and going for another fill this week... I hope. This is just crazy though. Has anyone had a similar situation? I am bit discouraged now that I know I was filled and eating good amounts of food with no problems. My weight loss had stopped and I am feeling down for sure. I hope my next fill helps!
