  1. Well, I finally got my sleeve on Tuesday. I have to say the pain hasn't been too bad. It's mainly an issue when getting in and out of bed. It's that darn right-side stitch that everyone complains about. I've been having gas pains, but nothing too bad. Can't wait for my stomach to heal. I hate the feeling of knowing I have stitches in my stomach. For now, I am just drinking as much Water as I can. And walking every time I get up to go pee. How long did it take everyone to get rid of the excessive gas? Thanks!
  2. Hey guys. I'm 13 days post op. I must have swallowed my heartburn pill funky today because I can feel it. It's been about 2 hours and I still feel it. Not the best timing As this is my first day back at work. Grrrrr Has this happened to anyone?

    Stuck heartburn pill?

Thanks Brian! I'll keep drinking. I can't tell if it's gone or not. You know when you swallow something weird and you can feel it even after its gone. Not sure which one it is. Lol.
  4. Hi everyone, Feel like I had a tiny victory today. I went to my first restaurant post surgery. It was a Mexican restaurant, which prior to surgery was my definition of heaven....Chips, salsa and margaritas!!! Mmmmm Anyway, I sat in front of the basket of chips & salsa and it wasn't as difficult as I would have expected. I did eat ONE chip, ever so slowly, broken up multiple times, chewed what felt like a million. I felt kinda silly only ordering a side of refried Beans and a Water, but it worked. I was even able to mix in a little salsa w/o any issues (I'm 11 days post op). I was happy about that because like I said, I have a weakness for salsa. So yeah, that is it. I took the rest of the beans home and have enough for dinner. Total damage: $3.99. I'm officially the cheapest date ever!! ❤️ 21 pounds down!!

    So terrified of long term

Hi KittyCathy22 Thanks for the update! I'm so glad you're feeling better! 25 pounds is awesome!!! Great job. Also, I'm glad you're taking an SSRI. It will help with this transition. Everyone says that it's common to be emotional after the surgery. I haven't been, I credit (in part) the Zoloft. Today I went to my first restaurant since surgery. It went better than I expected. I felt silly only ordering a side of refried Beans, but did it anyway. I could only eat 1/2 of them. Mixed in a little salsa which didn't hurt at all. I'm surprised because I'm only 11 days post-op. Anyway...Mexican restaurants (chips, salsa and margaritas) were my JAM before surgery. I'm proud of myself for sitting in front of a basket of chips and only having one of them (a tiny piece at a time chewed forever). It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Plus, my fiancé said, I'm now the cheapest date ever!!! Anyways take care!!

    Sleeved 4/26/16

Hi Wyatt! I just got my sleeve on 4/20 in Sacramento. Having the same experience as you so far. Not much pain, just focused on getting all of my liquid and protein in. Wishing you well.

    April sleevers

Omg me too! Lol. I NEVER ate yogurt before, but it DOES taste good now! Hahah. Too bad I still can't get any of the real good flavor I want (raspberry, strawberry, etc). Never thought pureed Progresso Soup would be good either.

    Local group- Roseville Area

So sweet! I had a feeling I had he wrong Roseville because I didn't recognize the other areas you mentioned. No worries! Thanks for the offer. I know there are some here, in fact I went to one. I was just excited to see my area on here. Lol.

    laxatives?

My doc recommended either milk of magnesia or glycerine suppositories. I bought both. Didn't want to force anything else in my stomach so tried the suppository. Super easy, worked in like 3 minutes. No pain. Haven't had to use it again.

Hi everyone, Are you referring to Roseville, CA? I'm nearby and just had surgery last week. Interested in the group.

    Sick !

Hey girl, I was super tired too for my 2 weeks. Cold turkey off caffeine, sugar, food (well the food I liked to eat) and pot had me all kinda of moody. By day 5 I was okay. I cheated twice, but was proud of myself for getting through it. You got this!!!!

    No friends

So sorry you aren't receiving support. I agree with surfer girl. I know many times when my friends have gone out for surgery, I have good intentions to call/see them, but I always think they must want time alone or worry I'll impose. I'm sure they care about you, but are stuck in one of those traps. This experience has been good for me to see how to support my friends. Now I know what kind of support I have appreciated. Keep your chin up!

    April sleevers

I don't think anyone is sending the link. I haven't gotten one yet. Not sure who has it.
  16. Hi guys! I was sleeved on 4/20. I've slept on my back ever since. This morning I woke up with lower back pain. I'm so tired of sleeping this way. I've tried to sleep on my left side, but it still hurts (that damn right side stitch). Just hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel. I miss my side-sleeping. (PS: I've tried propping pillows under my knees when I'm on my back, and that helps, but nothing is as comfy as side sleeping).
  17. SEVENTYSIXGIRL

How long did you sleep on your back?

Yay!!! Today I took a nap and I was almost completely on my side! Lol. Is this my first NSV? Lol.

How long did you sleep on your back?

I'm excited to be able to sleep more comfy when this damn stomach starts disappearing! I definitely carried my weight in my tummy. I've been wearing a stomach binder. It makes me feel much more secure, but still feels weird on my side. I'll slowly start trying again. Thanks everyone!!!

How long did you sleep on your back?

Yeah changing positions is the worst, but even when I'm laying in my side, it feels like it's pulling on my right big stitch. Grrrr!

    So terrified of long term

Glad you're feeling a little better! It is also probably the hardest, most drastic thing I've ever done too, but so far worth it!! Have you been enjoying losing weight at least? I love watching the scale numbers drop!!! You don't sound spoiled or selfish!! This is a great forum to just be ourselves and tell the truth!!!

    So terrified of long term

Love that response Dub!!! Just recently read your 6 month out post. You look amazing and are a great inspiration! Thanks for the support! My first order of business once I've lost a little weight...rollercoasters!!! I've been avoiding them for years out of fear I won't fit! Can't wait to live life to the fullest again!!!

    So terrified of long term

Are you taking anything for the anxiety? It's not anything you would need to be on forever...but this is a major life event and it can help w/ the transition. Just my opinion. Glad you see a psych though. I'm all about accepting as much help as possible!!
  24. SEVENTYSIXGIRL

    So terrified of long term

Hi Kitty! Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I hear that it is common for people to be on an emotional rollercoaster after surgery. Losing weight releases hormones and can make you emotional. I've battled with anxiety my whole life. I've been on Zoloft for a few years and that helps a lot. The doctors let me stay on it and even take Ativan when needed (haven't needed it) during this surgery process. Sometimes I have thoughts about my long term future and get worried (will I ever be able to eat normal again, will I ever be able to have a drink socially again, OMG what's gonna happen to my skin? Am I going to look worse with all that skin?). Anyways...when I have those thoughts, I just redirect myself to the present. So far everything has gone great. Is this surgery/situation ideal? No! Of course I envy skinny people who never "ruined" their bodies in the first place and don't have to go through this. But you know what, we did, for whatever reason. But we have chosen better for our futures and took a huge courageous step. I'm very proud of myself for making this commitment and having the courage to do this. Just take it one step at a time and enjoy those numbers going down on that scale!! Feel free to contact me anytime. I'm in the same boat and I'm a therapist, so I'm a good listener. Keep your chin up!!
  25. Hey girl! So happy to hear your success story! I'll be one week out on Wednesday. So far everything has been good with me too. No nausea of anything. I did have gas pains and pains on the right side incision? But all totally manageable. I'm excited about the future and just want to keep following the rules!!
