Ok I have to ask...are things going too well? Am I overdoing it?
I am guessing that you are flying? Did your surgeon ok you for this? Just be careful is all I'm saying. If it is a really long flight be prepared to do a lot of walking up and down the aisles ok? Have fun! Keep hydrated!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Keep hearing about people using PB powder, I see it all over the shelves now but quite frankly, I'm confused. What are the benefits? How are you using it? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

A Magic Bullet
OMG you are so ON POINT about the teeth! I'm cringing and laughing at the same time! Practicing dentistry for 20 years, I ran across more young adults who had eroded the back side of their front teeth. I always was cautious but direct mentioning what I observed to them.

Yeast infections on your skin
The infection is intertrigo candidiasis. Also be sure to take date-stamped photos for your back-up paperwork. Someone working in a bariatric practice (not mine) recommended applying Nair to the usual, closed areas if one doesn't experience the infection. The goal, of course, is to have more ammunition to get insurance to cover reconstructive surgery. I don't know what a Nair burn could be treated with and inducing a Nair burn for the purpose is unethical. No comment. Lmao- I wasn't using the Nair for THAT- but for its intended reason- just tried using it in a sensitive area and the sucker BURNED!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yeast infections on your skin
Good to know V- about the insurance info. Will definitely need to start documenting this! I love the baby butt cream because it works fast and is cheap! Lol. But I'll certainly ask for a Rx for extra documentation! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yeast infections on your skin
Hi all- i just thought I would share this little tidbit of info with you. Many of you- like me- have/had suffered from horrid stinky skin irritations in the folds of our skin. Mine were always under my breasts, and it actually can hurt. They are actually yeast infections- warm, moist dark areas are havens for yeast to grow. Anyway, after years of trying everything, I finally found that any cream with Zinc Oxide- think Desitin baby rash cream- will knock it out- FAST. Even straight Zinc Oxide like you buy for sun block works. Obviously keeping the area clean and dry is important, but these nasty irritations always rear their ugly heads and I wanted to let you all know that any OTC baby butt cream with zinc oxide will clear you up in a day. That's it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Freaking OUT!
One word - DILAUDID. My in hospital drug of choice. Given IV. Morphine makes my chest feel like an elephant is sitting on it. Norco pills were given to me 90 a month for years but I hated the idea of taking them, so resorted to them only when desperate for pain relief. But dilaudid- like a cool sheet being pulled over you gently and as it does the pain disappears. No headaches or nausea with it- at least for me. Ask for it instead of morphine. Btw- there IS a morphine pill, called Embeda. Horrid! The only thing it does is embed your poop and your ability to have a bowel movement worse than any other narcotic! What's the every day difference? Band to bypass
Reading these stories, and hearing of so many others like the band really cements my happiness over being too scared to get it years ago! My RNY has been a godsend! Feeling frustrated-Not going to meet the goal
I've never been given a calorie target and never been told how much weight I SHOULD lose. Odd. When I asked my NUT about the calories, her reply was if I ate according to plan, I'd get enough in. Oddly also, when we were discussing condiments as I transitioned to a regular diet, basically she said I did not need to go low fat options. Her reasoning? Say my meal included 2 meatballs and I wanted to put bbq sauce on them, it was only 2 little meatballs- they can't HOLD that much sauce to get me into trouble. Same with a small salad and dressing, etc. Now, I have never cared for anything floating in condiments, but for some that may be a dangerous "go ahead"! Perhaps she told me this because she knows my eating habits so well? Don't know. As for my surgeon- has never given me a goal to lose since pre op. He did mention at my 3 month appointment that months 3-9 were the "sweet spot" for the most weight loss. I laughed because by that point I'd already dropped the equivalent of a fourth grader and didn't think it could get better than that! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

First NSV
Lol. I was actually SAD one day- put on a pair of pants I had always loved and found not only were they too big and fell right down, I had missed the window to wear them- blew right down past that size! I waited until I hit the 3 month mark to clean out all of the big sizes from my closet and drawers. Don't know why- probably still attached at the time to the idea that it wouldn't work completely for me. Now- have tons of room on my shelves and hangers! lol. Careful about buying things- only a couple of nicer outfits at a time. The rest I get from Walmart and such. No luck with resale shops, but the outlet malls have been a godsend. Even got a couple cute tennis skirts/golf skirts to wear! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ooh Ooh Ooh! Been off BP for two weeks and AGAIN I missed good stuff! I have to catch up- Favorite song lyrics," We spotted the ocean, at the head of the trail, Where are we going, so far away? Somebody told me that this is the place, where everything's better, and everything's safe" Toad the Wet Sprocket, Walk on the Ocean. Those lines have applied to so many passages in my life...including this journey. I suck at jokes, not even going to make a stab at one. Guilty Pleasure- taking a mid day nap in bed with the fan overhead whirling and no one is home...because I can.
