    Looking for support

This is about you, and how you feel about yourself hon. I was open about my balloon insertion and the removal which was only today. When I told some friends about me having Bariatric surgery they winced and asked why. I am big, or as medics would say morbidly obese. Doesn't that sound horrible. But whatever I decide to do I know I would have my family backing. With regards to your own issues. The people who support you are the people you need to be around. Don't hang around with people who don't want you to be happy. You must need to lose weight for doctors to allow you to have it so stay strong. Keep on here for the most amazing positive support you can ask for and ignore the haters. Just think they may be jealous that you are brave enough to take this step. All the best. Balloon Removal

I have my balloon removed in the morning, have lost 39lbs and know I need to lose more. Terrified of putting the weight back on. Haven't had any trouble with the balloon so of course I am worried I will have the problems when its gone. I asked my surgeon if I needed to eat specific things prior to my op and he said no, to eat normally. Let's hope that doesn't kick him in the ass tomorrow haha. Didn't have a sore throat when I had balloon fitted so hope it's same procedure tomorrow. Wish me luck ???????? Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  4. @@ophelia150 I had my balloon fitted on 1st feb. I've just hit 29.5lb loss. I eat little and often. One Weetabix for Breakfast with a banana. Pot of fruit for snack around 10am. Jacket potato with tuna mayo for lunch but I don't eat the skin as it doesn't digest well. Yoghurt for break around 2 and a snack pot of fruit around 4. Then for dinner I have various foods, fish cake with mushy peas, chicken Kiev, I don't have chips or bread any more and sometimes have a few crackers buttered for a supper snack. Between all that I try to drink about 4 pints of Water at least a day. I couldn't walk far before surgery, got breathless walking to my car. I can now walk half a mile without struggling too much. So happy. Try and drink plenty of water as it could be you are thirsty rather than hungry. Good luck ???? Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

Another newbie getting ready for Orbera

I felt it was a different type of sickness. I threw up ... I was fine. I got a gurgling feeling and new I needed to be sick quickly. Bags will be good even for peace of mind. I have just been for my official hospital weigh in and have lost 10.3kg. I am over the moon. That's in 6 and half weeks. Yay Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

Totally agree with @jansluv. Everyone is different. I had my balloon inserted 1st feb, was sick for two days but don't worry. I was determined not to be sick as I hate it. But I felt okay after it, it's not like being ill. Be prepared on your first day for wind being around your shoulders and back but it will pass. I stuck to 4 days before more substantial foods and 7 days before I went to solids. Have lost 19lbs but haven't lost anything for two weeks. Keep talking on here. People are really supportive and you realise you are not alone ???? Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  7. @@VSGAnn2014 I am into my fourth week. Had my balloon inserted on the 1st Feb and was only sick the first two days. I am eating fairly normally ... side plates are my limit for size. But stick to the rules I was given and don't eat fresh spaghetti or lettuce as they stick to the balloon. I eat every two hours which is usually breakfast of one weetabix water until mid morning when I will have a yoghurt water until lunch which is usually either soup or jacket potato with tuna mayo (no potato skin as it doesn't digest well) more water until around 3 when I will have fruit or another yoghurt but maybe even a chocolate bikkie for a treat then tea will be anything I cook such as chicken, fishcakes, etc. I treated myself on Wed foe the first time with a fish shop fishcake but instead of chips had mushy peas. Was beautiful. First week lost 11lbs as I was on fluids, second week 4lbs, third week 1lb and this week 3lbs. I am happy and would try and encourage anyone to have one. ????
  8. @@jansluv I have had mine 3 weeks and feeling quite good. Only had sickness first 3 days, but I try and stick to the 20, 20 rule of eating and drinking. I also try and drink plenty of water as it keeps the balloon washed and clear of food debris. I take 40mg of omeprazole but they want me to have that foe the full six months. I have just eaten one sausage, mashed potato and beans and feel fine. It was so good to have something to chew rather than mince or soup. I try to eat soup for my lunch at work, but know I can only eat 8 to 12 tablespoons or I will feel over full. I have also found I cannot tolerate much greasy foods. I hope you can tolerate it, it means you will lose the weight you are hoping to lose. Good luck ????

How is everyone doing. It has gone really quiet. I had my weekly weigh in on Monday and after 2 weeks have lost 15lbs. So pleased. I am back at work and doing really well with my food portions. Hope to hear from you all.

    Here we go!

Just getting ready to go into hospital. Still not feeling too nervous but know the butterflies will start soon. Nil by mouth now until op. Have to be there by 7.15 but not sure when procedure will be. Endoscopy first to check all is okay and if it is straight into procedure. Hope it's not too late in the day. Will post when I am on the ward afterwards.

    Here we go!

Hi AnnCade, I think everyone is different. I was sick for two days and it was always the fluids. I drank water the first two days and had a sip of tea but couldn't keep that down. I now can. I'm on day 6 and can now eat scrambled egg, ravioli, soup, but only a couple of spoonfuls. I'm still learning not to eat like a pig! Keep at it but make sure you drink plenty. Good luck ????

    Here we go!

Hi @SLSH. Yes I got out on Wednesday I can only eat two spoonfuls of soup otherwise I am creased. It's still blended to nothing though. I haven't been sick since so now making sure I have multi vitamins, trying to drink some protein drinks but can't drink too much, water of course, had a little tea but again it's only a few sips, I did manage a full yoghurt yesterday but took me nearly an hour to eat it. I try and keep to the 20 20 rules. No drinking for 20 mins before eating and no eating 20 mins before drinking. Still got myself propped up in bed as feels uncomfortable laid flat. I'm in the UK.

    Here we go!

Good morning all. Was sick once last night but today I got my first yoghurt ... My mouth didn't know what to do with the tangy taste but I have stuck to the 20 20 rule. Had a drink with some anti acid tablets so waited 20 mins before I had two tablespoons of yoghurt. 20 mins is up so I am going to drink now and then some more yoghurt in a while. Consultant came down and said if I can keep this down I can go home Hurray!!! Will keep you updated.

    Here we go!

Today hasn't been too bad. Still being sick but not so much. Mind you the other end not so good. They said I can eat today but still waiting for a yoghurt. I will go buy some shakes when I get out. Tummy aches sometimes and no can only lie on my left or my back. I love sleeping on my right so that's a bit of a mare. Hope they send me home tomorrow!! Thanks for all the thoughts. Means a lot!

    Here we go!

Oh goodness what a night. As I have had no food now for 36 hours and sips of water I thought a cup of tea ... Sips of course ... Would be good. Not a chance, no sooner it was in it was out. I have had sickness four times during the night starting with acid in my throat and then an almighty throw up but it lasts seconds. Hopefully this will calm down ... I hate being sick. They gave me Gaviscon for my acid as I cannot take food yet. Just woke up to the smell of burned toast which is not good at the best of times but when you feel hungry. I hope they feed me today, just a bit of yoghurt or as you lot have said protein shake would help. Feeling cold and hungry but not starving, just like I need a snack. Well done candykerr7 on losing 7 lbs, all this makes it sound better when you lose the lbs.

    Here we go!

Hi all. Went really well only in surgery for 20 mins. Sipping water slowly and had a little nap. Didn't feel a thing. Got throat spray and was woken later. Throat a little sore and have windy back and shoulder blades but nurse says that's normal. Hubby doing his best to dislodge haha. Fingers crossed I will be okay. Will let you know how the night goes ????

Hi new to the forum. Getting my balloon fitted tomorrow. Bags are packed as I am allegedly in hospital up to three days, would prefer being at home but I will cope for just a few days. Don't feel nervous. Been waiting for nearly two years to get this weight off me. Will keep you updated if that is okay. Will help pass time away. Really worried about sickness as I hate being sick but took some good notes from here about sipping water etc. Wish me luck ????
