  1. Are there any banders in the Charlottesville area?
  2. Good for you! I am at a stand still and have been for about a year but as long as I don't gain I am okay with that. However I would like to get below 200. I need to see Dr. Michael Trahan because something is not right hoping my band has not slipped. Going to call him on Monday. So how much have you lost and are you happy with your progress?
  3. How is everyone in the C'ville area doing with their Lapband and weight loss? Anyone?
  4. I am doing ok not as good as I would have liked. Never really had any support so I did all the work on my own. Did you get lapband rules? I try to walk as much as I can that seems to help best with my weight loss. I had a knee replacement in Nov. and I am still get back from that. Do you live in C'ville? If you do maybe we could walk together if interested.
  5. I am still here. I am almost 4 years out. Never been very much going on here. I would go through the support group @ Martha Jefferson. I would also be happy to talk with you if I can offer any help.
  6. Can anyone tell me where online I can check for Tricare Prime approval?
  7. Welcome Victoria I love Dr. Trahan and I feel he is a really good doctor. You are in good hands. I was suppose to be out of work for 2-3 weeks. I was doing office work. I never went back because the company was sold. I knew it was going to happen so it was not a suprise. Plus it gave me time to adjust to my new life style. The staff is great! I had problems with insurance I had Tricare and the coodinator did not know one thing about the insurance but she hung in there and made it happen. I have lost around 45 lbs had a set back in Oct. with my knee and that lead right into the holidays so I am just now getting back on track. It will be 1 year May 20. I have the Lapband he gave me the choice. The only advice I want to give you is to go and see him if you do not have restriction. I did not and it stopped me from loosing for a while and I got really bummed out about it. Dr. Trahan has never been upset he just told me if I thought I needed an adjustment all I have to do is call for an appt. I currently have 8cc in a 10cc band and it has made all the difference in the world. Good luck and I hope I answered all your questions. If not just PM me and I will see if I can help. Mecia
  8. Had my 5 fill today 8cc in my 10cc band I pray this will do the trick cause I have not lost anything in about 2 months actually gained about 5 pounds. I am not ready to throw in the towel yet. May 20 will be one year and have only lost 40 t0 45 lbs. Hopefully by my band anniversary (sp) I would at least like to have lost 50 lbs.
  9. Great! I am glad everthing is coming together. Hope to see you on the losers bench real soon. Mecia
  10. Congrats! Hope time will fly by.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Well I am over the constant hungry thing. Someone seggested Carnation Instant Breakfast (sugar free) and I tried it with protein powder and skim milk and it is simply amazing I am not hungry all the time. I also got some 98%fat free broccoli cheese soup and OMG it was sooo good. I think the best thing was it was not cream of chicken. So I feel like I can run this race now. Thanks for the words of incouragement!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I am 8 days post op and I was only on clears for 5 days post op. On day 4 I started having the gas. After I had a BM on the 6&7 day the gas seems to have eased quite a bit. I have been on full liquids since Tue. and I am still hungry. Even dog food looks good on TV. A lot of my soreness has really gone at this point. I am really feeling a lot better even the pains for prior to the surgery are better. If you are walking that is when I can pass a lot of gas.Hope this helps. Mecia
  15. You have to end your affair with the soda. Mine is rice, Pasta and potatoes. If I can give those things up anyone should be able to kick anything. Mecia
  16. I am doing pretty good. Yes I am glad to have it done. I nearly drove myself crazy with the insurance but that is okay now. I will be happy to answer any questions I can. That would have been so great if I had someone to talk to prior to the surgery. You will be busy doing the 3 month diet. That was the one good thing about Tricare they did not require a diet prior to the surgery. Try to decrease your card intake as much as you can before your surgery that will help after. Stay in touch and I will help as much as I can. Mecia
  17. Hi Barb, I had my surgery last Tue. Dr. Michael Trahan and upon discharge I was given a support group led by Pat Cheeks that meets 2 times a month at Martha Jefferson. There is also another on that meets 1 time a month but it is not all Lapbanders. Who is your Dr.? Mecia

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I asked for suggestion yesterday because I was forever hungry and week and just overall miserable. I got lots of responses some that did make things a bit better. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestion. I am feeling much much better today. Thank You!! I am writing this portion mainly to new Banders. After one of the really bad days yesterday My friend that had Gastric Bypass in Nov. called and we talked. She told me her Dr. told her and her DH that she should expect on the third or forth day to expect 1 to 2 of feeling like crawling in bed and covering her head. She did feel this for 2 days but bher DH made her get dressed and go for a walk. I just did the bed thing cause I really did not have energy to do much else. I have read on other message board that this is called Band Hell. What it really is is your body realizing that it has no carbs to use sort of like withdrawal. I did not have to do any special diet prior to my surgery on Tue. so when my carbs were gone my body could not figure out what was going on. So take heart new Banders if this happens don't freak This too shall pass! I never once regreted that I have my Band. I hope this will be of help to anyone that is newly banded. Mecia

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Christy, I had my surgery on Tue. also. Only 4 incisions and was feeling pretty good till the meds wore off. I do not have any pain just a little sore. I just am feeling hungry and I just had some Fuse which contains low carb. and I feel a little better. I am on clear liquids until Mon. Then I will take my apple sauce and pudding and sit it on the grill and pretend I am at Bar-B -Que. :cursing: I finally begin to pass gas and was so excited. Who knew? I don't really like the was the pain meds I came home with make me feel so I don't even bother to take it unless I just want to sleep. Oh well continued success and hope to meet you in onederland.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I think I am going to have to try something with a little sugar cause right now I feel a little sick and the last thing I want to do is throw up. I may call the Dr. cause I am a little light headed.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Everyone, Well I made it thru the surgery no complications! Thanks for you thoughts and prayers. I am on clear liquids for 2 more days if anyone can help me please I am so hungry that bI can not even sleep at night. Is there any suggestions as to what I can have that will hold me at least an hour. The sugar free jello and crystal light leave a coating on my tongue that make me gag. The only thing that is okay to keep down is sugar free popsicles broth and water. I am very week and tired very easy. Any suggestion well be greatly appriciated.
