  1. Well, I just tried to post, but I think it got erased. Good luck to you. I have a little over 150 pounds to lose, so I still don't know which way I will go with this... The GB or the LB. We'll see. The death thing is very scary... I didn't realize that the mortality rate was that high. Definitely something to think about.
  2. I am teetering on the line between a GB and a LB also, and this scares me! I tend to do very well with surgeries, but eek! So now I am undecided yet again. I have a little over 150 pounds to lose, so I'm not sure which way the doctor will go with this. We'll see. It won't be his ultimate decision. I know it will be mine. Good luck to you!!!
  3. But NOT giving up! I am pre-op. In fact, the surgery has not been offered to me yet. I have been following my surgeon's suggestions, and have had the sleep study done, and the psych eval. Well, the surgeon said that he wanted a letter and a phone call, so the psych gave him that. Now the staff says that the letter isn't good enough. They want a "profile" and "conclusion." Will get that for him, but it's a little frustrating that he did not say that is what he really wanted beforehand. I know this is just a little bump in the road, so I am taking it in stride. I had hoped to be banded in the summer months, but maybe that won't happen. Oh well. I have waited this long. I can wait longer. Thanks for listening to me fuss.
  4. Aww, good luck to you! I will be sending good thoughts your way tomorrow. :purplebananna:
  5. I am worried about loose skin too, and I haven't even had the surgery yet. Then I realize that I'd rather have the loose skin than be as heavy as I am now.
  6. Is there something other than surgery to do about the extra skin I will have once I lose the weight? I know losing the weight is way more important. I'm just wanting to know. I'm curious. Are the reconstructive surgeries covered by any insurance or just some? Are there reasons the reconstructive surgery could be considered medically necessary?
  7. Congrats! I'm at the very beginning of this process. Have no clue when I will be banded. Hope it is soon, though. Your news encourages me! Woot! :frown:
  8. Well, I suppose then that I should be thankful for the high cholesterol, the apnea and the fact that I am a smidge over 150 pounds over weight... Never thought I'd see the day. I have my first appointment with my primary care next Wednesday. I already have one doc saying I need this surgery. I have been battling obesity for 6 years now with no success... Just losing the same 25 pounds over and over again. I hope I get quick approval so that I can have this done SOON! I know it is a big commitment, but of course, I won't know how big a commitment until I talk more with the docs. I'm going to a class at the hospital where it's performed once I get the chance to go (got to find out when the next class is).
  9. Hello all. The lap band surgery has just been suggested to me by my doctor. I'm going to be digging around here for more info and input. I'm really glad this site is here! I weigh 300 pounds, and should weigh in at around 148.
