  1. well, I tried several different ways, and can get it to show up in the box I'm in now, but when I post, it only comes up to the link addy again.
  2. can someone tell me how to put the ticker on my posts?
  3. Just banded today. less than 12 hrs ago, asked for the realize band, and the Dr was happy to oblige, he was also impressed that I knew there were more than one, I'm feeling fine, for now.
  4. My husband has already said that I will end up leaving him, but I have tried to assure him that won't happen, I'm almost 49 yrs old, and he has been the love of my life since we were kids, growing up one block from each other, he'll be my heart forever, now only if I can make him understand that.
  5. Hi, Well, I'm less than 12 hrs post op, and I'm home, and feeling ok, a little soreness, unfortunately, had a hernia that Dr B had to fix, so a little more pain in the left upper chest, but as far as the incisions, not bad. Taking Lortab elixir every 4-6 hrs. I have been so emotional today, after the surgery, to know that 25 yrs of misery and hating myself is on it's way to being over, I lost 14 lbs pre op, I have to say too, that the 2 day clear liq diet was murder, I started it Sunday, and was dumb enough to work all day Mon, driving all over 5 counties, seeing patients, but now I'm off until the 27th. I can't tell everyone how very excited I am!
  6. please send me the link to that site! ty
  7. I know what you maen about the few friends, no g/f. My son is almost 16 y/o, and is overweight, since he was little. He had lived with his dad for the past 5 yrs, but has now been with me since 12/07. He is all of a sudden in a rush to lose weight, I don't know if it's a girl at school, or all the talk of lapband from me. I wish I could get him the band too, as it's not likely to go away as he ages, but only get worse, I am afraid for him, I try to enc, him to make healthy choices, and he tries sometimes, but gets easily discouraged, I would love to keep this ins until he's 18 so he could get the band
  8. also, when i met with the dietician in the middle of march, she gave me a list of dos and don'ts, and in the beginning i stuck to it pretty closely, but then i got a bit lax, especially when i had an abnormal ekg, stress test, and echo. i had a heart cath on apr 14th, at BMC, which showed no significant blockage, well i just haven't gotten back into the no /low carb thing as much, and when I was doing it closely, i lost 7 lbs, but now gained back 2. they told me from the very 1st meeting when i went on jan 2, weighed in at 200, with a BMI of 40, that from that point on, I could lose as much as I wanted but could not gain any above 200, or the surgery would be cancelled, so now I'm 195, and wil try harder this week to be good, knowing i have to go and see him next week.
  9. thanks for in the info kelly, I know Dr C an be very rude and seem heartless, he was abrupt and said to my boss whose band he did, "don't feel special just because you can cross your legs" I was like, whoa. I had a lady in the office tell me that Dr B talked to her rough also, she said " my husband doesn't even talk to me like that!" Anyways, I just figured with having the meeting with Dr B only 6 days away from the surgery, and seeing other people being on pre op diets 2 months out. I do try and watch carbs, I am mindful of what I eat that has carbs, which seems to be everything! I mean, how much meat, and green beans can I stand? And is it true that you can never eat rice pasta potatoes and bread again. I asked Jody, and she said , yes you can eat rice, but then you won't eat again for a month. My husband is very much against the surgery, reminding me of how I lost 50 lbs at WW, but then I'm quick to remind him that I also gained back 35. It;s hard to be good when you live with such hearty eaters such as my husband and son, who are both overweight, I'm hiping I can change all of our eating habits, I figure if I can't eat it, then it doesn't need to be in the house.
  10. Well, I have been stocking up on those low carb Atkins shakes, and I meet with Dr B on the 14th, should I already be drinking only the shakes, 16 days from surgery? Or will he tell me to, when I meet with him, 6 days from surgery. I am having it done on a Tues, and have taken Weds and Thurs off also, but I wonder now if I should have taken off Fri, the wknd and Memorial day. I know about the shrinking liver, and the rationale behind it, but it's hard to have to cook for my husband and son, knowing I can't eat. I want them to switch to my diet, maybe after the surgery they will. WBS
  11. I'm in Jax, being banded by Dr Baptista on may 20, can't wait. I am also interested in knowing about Dr Webb for a friend of mine.
  12. Tammy, I couldn't agree with you more about this site. I am so glad I found it, as I know after I have mine done on May 20, I will need all of you to help me thru the early days. As for the band, I too, have done it all, nothing out there that I haven't tried, and after 25 yrs, maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of us willing to suffer a little for a longer life. I just wonder though, because I only have about 80 lbs to lose, if it will take longer than someone with over 100 to lose. I don't want instant gratification, and know that it will take awhile, but I like to think maybe in a yr, I can lose that much.
  13. Hi, I am going to be banded on May 20, also thru jax wt loss ctr, Dr Baptista. Has anyone had him do their band, I have to go to Memorial, and I meet w/him on the 14th, what kind of preop diet do they require? I have a stockpile of atkins shakes.
  14. I am 4' 11" and weigh 195, and I'm 48 yrs old. My goal is 115, wonder how long that'll take.
  15. May 20th for me!!:cool2:
  16. I'm in Florida, I have pre op at the hosp on May 12, and pre op with the Dr on My 14th, and then May 20 is V-DAY!
  17. I had an abnormal EKG, which sent me to have athallium stress test and echo, also abnormal, which led me to a cardiologist, which led me to a heart cath, which "surprisingly" as the Dr put it, was normal, but I finally got the cardiac clearance, to the tune of 1100 extra bucks, but was approved after only one week thru Aetna.
  18. After 3 months of jumping thru hoops for Aetna, I finally have a date, May 20. I was surprised they only took a week to decide. I can't say enough how excited I am to finally have the hope to recognize a 25 yr old dream. I'm not scared but oh so anxious, I wish it was tomorrow!
  19. I have a surgery date for May 20, and already am dreading the post op diet, the liquid part, I don't see how anyone has the strength to move, let alone get up and go to work. I'm a home health nurse which requires alot of driving, and concentration. I hope can make it thru.
