  1. Mi, thanks for the help Monday night! I called the doctor the next day and they think that my stomach is probably just irritated from throwing up and I had to do 24 hours of clear liquids. I AM feeling better today! Just wanted to let you know that I was okay and that I appreciated your help!

    Nebraska Anyone???

Hi Soccer Mom! It's nice to meet someone so close to me who is getting banded! We live 14 miles south of Beatrice near Odell. Have you checked into Dr. Taddeucci for the procedure? He's in the same office as Dr. Hung and I love, love, love him! Best of luck to you and feel free to contact me for anything! My email address is jcolgrove@dishmail.net.
  4. Hey there! Overall I consider my surgery a success. I've lost 51 lbs that I don't believe I would have been able to lose without the surgery. I have 54 lbs to go and I know that with my band, I can do it. I sometimes get sick and food gets stuck sometimes but that is all worth it for the results I've gotten!
  5. Kim! I miss you! I hope you are doing great!

  6. I miss you mommy! Hope you are doing well and losing weight like crazy! Hugs and kisses!

    whey protein bullets

I use the New Whey 42 protein bullets from GNC. The grape and orange taste okay but don't expect absolute deliciousness...They're a bit tart. Remember that your body can only process 20-30 g of protein at a time. I usually use half a bullet one day and half the next.

    I'm a Cornhusker!

Billie, I had the same experience when I had my psych evaluation...got denied. I wonder if we went to the same person? Anyway, I found a counselor here in Beatrice that I've been seeing and she seems a little confused as to why the first psychologist recommended that I not have surgery. She wrote a letter of recommendation for me and I was banded by Dr. Taddeuci in Lincoln on 03/05/08. I'm glad I did it!

    Nebraska Anyone???

Wow! I guess I didn't pay much attention to this thread but there are a lot of Nebraska banders on here! I live about 14 miles south of Beatrice. I was banded on 03-05-08 by Dr. Taddeucci in Lincoln and have lost about 34 lbs so far. I'm so glad I did it! It's nice to meet all of you local people!
  10. Hey Frankie! I haven't seen you for about a week! How's the new job going? Come see me soon!

    Fills?

Kristin, I was banded 03/05/08 by Dr. Taddeucci at Surgical Associates in Lincoln. Fills cost $150 for fluoro and like you said, $75-100 in the office. It sounds like that's pretty common across the board from what I've heard. Good luck with everything!
  12. Good morning! How are you all? I've been lurking for a while and decided that I should probably introduce myself. I live near Beatrice and was banded 3 weeks ago by Dr. Taddeucci in Lincoln. I am doing great and am excited about what the future holds. I look forward to meeting you all! Good luck!

    Hey Nebraska Bandsters

Good for you Altman! For the pureed food, i would try normal foods, just pureed. chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes goes down really well. That way you can get some variety in your diet. It becomes boring really quickly. Good luck! Also, Dr.'s Taddeucci and Hung at Surgical Associates in Lincoln are working to become certified as a "center of excellence" as well.
  14. I had diarrhea after surgery as well and the nurse told me it was from all the liquids i was consuming. I wasn't eating anything solid enough to "bulk up my stools". I would look for it to get better when you start to eat more solid food. Hang in there!
  15. Hey Beth! How was your surgery? I've been thinking about you!

    Hey Nebraska Bandsters

Hi Kim! What are the requirements of the liquid diet? I had to have 2 shakes per day and one sensible meal. I don't have much good advice to pass along, other than keeping your ultimate goal in mind. It's only 2 weeks and you're doing it so that you can have surgery. It will help prepare you better for life after banding. It's nice to meet you and I wish you the best of luck! If you have any questions be sure to ask and feel free to visit the chat room...lots of banders happy to help out!
  17. I've had 2 fills now and got light headed during both of them. They occur after the fill and after I've drank some barium. We're within 30 seconds of finishing the procedure and I have to lie down. I get a rushing in my ears, vision becomes grainy, and I feel hot. After lying down for a couple of minutes I'm fine. I don't know why this is because mentally I'm not worried about the fills and they barely hurt at all! I think my mind just plays tricks with my body because it knows that the needle is a mile long! It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one that this happens to. My doc said that a lot of people either don't tell him that they are getting light headed or don't have enough time to warn him because they just pass out. At least I have some warning.

    First Fill Today-Almost fainted

I got my first fill on Monday the 7th and I got light headed too! I usually do really well with shots and needles but when I stood up so he could use the fluorometry, one of my abdominal muscles started to jerk. I got through drinking the barium but then I had to lie down for a bit!
  19. Hey everyone! I hope someone can answer this question accurately for me. I was banded one month ago. At my 2 week post op i asked the nurse what size of band i had she just looked at the chart and said "you have an AP Standard". I figured that was a 10 cc band. When I got my first fill today I asked the doctor how many cc's he would give me and he said 3 or 4, you have a 14 cc band. I know that Mondays for him are fill days and he sometimes has 15-20 people get fills in one day...do you think he was confusing me with someone else? I mean, my chart says AP Standard...what size is that exactly? I did get 4 cc's in my fill today...thanks for the help!
  20. Good luck on your surgery! It must be either tomorrow or the next day now! I am thinking of you and will be anxious to hear how it goes. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you!

  21. Mommy, I'm sorry I didn't give you my full attention this morning...you needed someone to talk to and I should have put everything else aside for you. I truly hope your mom will be okay...I will say a prayer for her. Let me know how it's going and I'll talk to you later (dot, dot, dot)

  22. Hi there! I just saw you in the chat room and figured you were from Nebraska too. I live south of Beatrice and was banded in Lincoln a couple of weeks ago. Give me a shout sometime! Good luck to you!
