Any February Surgery Dates Out There?

Well I am flying 4 days after surgery to go home so I sure hope flying is okay lol... almost everyone who gets their surgery in Mexico has to fly home after their surgery and it seems fine.

To tell or not to tell? WLS

I hope after you reach goal that you still don't go in public with her and she finds out it's because you're too ashamed to be seen with someone like her.

    Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!

Argh! That's exciting but makes you a bit freaked out. At least less time to wait?

Any February Surgery Dates Out There?

I am lucky I think! My surgery is 29th February and 2 weeks before, I do protein shake for breakfast (which I do anyway) and then two small healthy meals. Only the last 4 days before surgery do I have to do a total liquid diet. Phew!

    February 2016 sleevers?

There are a few places. I think there is A Lighter Me, the Mi hospital, Angeles hospital. I am going with Dr Ramos-Kelly at his own clinic. Lots of places there to choose from.

    Post Op Mexico VSG

Hey guys, Those of you who had to fly home 3 days post op... how did it go? Any advice on what to wear on the plane? I am going to a small island and there are stairs to get off the plane onto the tarmac... should I have them take me up in the disabled lift instead? Any advice is appreciated!

    Where is everyone from?

Nope I live in Australia and also the US so don't need to pay for accommodation there.. and I have health insurance in USA. I am fitting the surgery in with my usual flights as I travel every 2 months between AU and USA so just an extra domestic flight. Surgery is still $10k cheaper than Australia!

    Where is everyone from?

So... for me $400 a month for 2 years (12 months waiting list and then 12 months post op) is already $10k.... and then another $6k out of pocket.

    Where is everyone from?

If you already have top health cover then you're already paying extra for the coverage of bariatric surgery. The quotes I got were $400+ a month for a single top cover policy!

    Where is everyone from?

I live between Australia and US so not so far for me... and the difference in price is amazing! There are some fantastic surgeons there too. I did a lot of research to find the right one.

    Emotional Cocktail

It's all good, she's only 14 lbs and they say no heavy lifting over 25lbs so I will be okay! I get home in time for the weekend so my husband can help for those days and then I will be a week out from surgery and hopefully doing just fine.

    Emotional Cocktail

I just had a baby 6 months ago so I am an emotional mess anyway haha! The emotions over the WLS hasn't hit me yet... at the moment it still feels surreal. I've been overweight for 29 years, since I was 10.. so the fact I can change that and I don't have to be the fat girl anymore hasn't really sunk in yet. ETA - my surgery is 29th Feb!
  18. I have heard rapid weight loss can lead to the development of gallstones and I know some bariatric surgeons offer gallbladder removal at the same time as the sleeve surgery. Is anyone thinking about getting this done? My surgeon offers it, and I think I will get it done, as I already have gallstones so I am at high risk of developing even more and of course, having gallstone attacks.. which I can tell you is one of the worst pains I have ever experienced... and I have had an 11 lb baby!! Just wondering what other people are thinking about this option.

Any February Surgery Dates Out There?

I am the 29th as well!

    Maybe a silly question....

So I asked and apparently yes... no nail polish or nails for surgery. But I wear my nails clear and you can easily see the nail beds... so I'm still wondering....

    Where is everyone from?

Hey I am in Brisbane too! But my date is 29th Feb and having it done in Mexico.
  22. Paula'sVSGLife

    Maybe a silly question....

I am wondering this as well. I saw a review where a girl was really annoyed she hadn't been told to have clear bare nails so had to take her acrylics off right before surgery. But then I've heard (and seen others on youtube) with their nails and it was just fine. I think I need to just directly ask my Patient Care Consultant as I'd hate to assume I can keep them and then have to rip them off!

    Gallbladder removal during surgery?

I think it totally depends on your surgeon! I say bring it up in the pre op discussions and let it be known you want it out and go from there. Not everyone gets gallstones from rapid weight loss... I already have them so that felt like a recipe for disaster.

    February 2016 sleevers?

I am! But not until the end of February.
  25. Hey is there anyone getting their VSG around the end of February? Would love to chat with people who will be post op at the same time.
