  1. I had my surgery in Utah ( USA) I was in the hospital for 3 days... tried to fight to get out second day but they had to do the leak test which wasn't very pleasant. the stuff they had me drink was pretty nasty but better ot be safe.... I hear leaks are less common depending on the surgeon mine has had one or two ever from her surgeries.... So as long as you have a good doc... I wouldn't worry about leaks much... If you get one... you will know it as you will run a fever be sick etc... look it up know what to watch for and just take all around good care of yourself.. <3
  2. I hope you meant grams and not milligrams. Follow your surgeon's instructions for your situation. It sounds like you are doing great. I would have to disagree that more than 95 grams of protein is toxic for most people, though. My minimum is 100 grams a day and it is working for me so far. Yeah Grams I must have hit a button ... I have moments now... tired a lot... more then normal but docs said all my Vitamins are good and its normal since my body is burning the fat so quickly... faster than average I was told...
  3. Very good info... I would also mention that foods you use to eat... You might not be able to eat after your surgery ( I love eggs and had issues with them for about 5 months, I can now eat them again). Same goes for scents... Ones you liked before may no longer appeal to you. It's a lil different for everyone but just in case... You have to try new foods slowly... and if they make your tummy feel bad... you should retry them after a couple of months...
  4. ohh boy Do I ever know this issue. I have never had issues with being cold. Now I am freezing my butt off. I use to wear shorts and tank tops in the snow without issue. Now I am brrrr all the time.. Can't wait for summer... Maybe I won't struggle with the heat anymore that would be nice!! I think it's time to actually buy real winter clothes isntead of the few pieces of winter clothing I have... ( that are too big of course) LOL
  5. Remember that that's only what statistics say. We can choose to fight those and Be where we want. This is just a tool to help us get to a fairly normal weight. In the end it really is up to us! Congratulations!
  6. my doc has my Protein at 60 mgs or higher... no more then 95 ever as that is toxic. So When I saw the higher numbers I was getting concerned. I have lost 114 pounds or so now... But I literally only eat meats and Beans.. nuts and a bit of cheese and once in awhile when I get a craving I will have a small bit of potato... cole slaw... something to break up the tastes... I lost weight fairly fast according to doc... So eating what I am eating must be working... I need to start exercising again/. Moved from Utah to Idaho falls... and that took a lot out of me... to be fair moving is not sitting arund business... and we also had to rehab and paint etc still doing that part actually done with the living room kitchen and one bathroom... have one bathroom and 3 bedrooms to go
  7. when you put on jeans for the first time in 6 yrs ( since they took out your thyroid) and burst into tears because they are ones you use to wear... and now they are too big OMG
  8. So Excited for you. Ever difficult moment is so very worth the end result. I have lost more weight faster then I ever expected. Sip lots of water slowly... and ask for the water to be on your oxygen so you don't feel all dried up. the surgery works wonderful <3 blessings and good luck you got this!!
  9. When all your clothes fall off and its time to buy new ones
  10. Dr allowed regular coffee... pretty much right off the bat as one of my Clear liquids. I think some docs are okay with it. I drink my lil 4 ounces or so with some sf creamer. I had no issues with hair falling out. I lost my weight really fast. It was kind scary. I am at a "normal" amount now a few pounds here and there but I lost almost 80 pounds in about 2 months which was super scary actually. I made sure I got my Protein in and was lucky to not lose hair. thank goodness I have thin fine hair as it is and can't really afford to lose any! I did notice... your body scent changes a bit so be prepared for it to be different. I have lsot the taste for many things ( including cigarettes which is a huge blessing) Trust your body listen to it weigh and measure your food and you will do wonderful

Docs said as long as no gain... then its good... and not to worry to try to change up something you do or eat. 14. What would you say if I told you there is a pizza we can have Bariatric legal Pizza Ingredients One pound ground (raw) chicken breast - or 3 small boneless breasts, pulsed in food processor ½ cup grated Parmesan 1 cup freshly shredded part skim mozzarella - one cup shredded cheese is 4 ounces by weight ½ teaspoon garlic powder Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper Dried oregano ½ cup prepared Pasta sauce Crushed red pepper flakes 4 or 5 basil leaves, rolled and sliced Toppings - lets not go crazy with fat - I used Molinari very lean pepperoni in paper thin slices Instructions Preheat oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper or foil sprayed with non stick vegetable cooking spray. In a medium bowl combine the ground chicken with ¼ cup parmesan, ¼ cup mozzarella, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon garlic powder and ½ teaspoon oregano. Mound the chicken mixture onto the parchment and pat into flat rectangle or disc. Cover with plastic wrap and evenly press or roll the chicken into a 7x10" rectangle or round. I use a rolling pin to get it very thin. Remove the plastic wrap and roast until golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Smear crust with sauce, scatter with ¼ cup Parmesan, ¾ cup mozzarella, layer with toppings and season with a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes and ¼ teaspoon oregano. Pop back into hot oven and cook until melted and bubbly 6 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven and scatter with chopped basil
  15. Try an adkins Snack pack? Make your snack later in the evening? Try different ways and until you find what works for you. I eat beef jerky before I go to bed and I sleep better and get ten grams of protein... low carb... a lil high in salt so if your have blood pressure issues... that might not be the way to go...how about a handful of pistachios/ almonds... Pistachios because they make you work for it so you need want less.... The snack packs ( think trail mix adkins style) I am prolly spelling that wrong... But you eat one piece at a time... make it take longer it will fulfill the need to snack.... with a small amount... and it has protein... Try an adkins Snack pack? 16. My stall was at 5 weeks or so ... was pretty scary... it just finally stopped and I lost 2 more pounds... I didn't even know it was normal. Love the post from Surfer girl that its okay and normal and to not freak out. That was awesome I didn't know it was normal ( in the beginning) I thought it was something that happened later on...So I wasn't prepared for it. Thank you for posting it... I didnt see other threads about it either and sometimes just knowing your not alone helps.... I didnt lose anything for like two weeks ( to be fair I lost a lot really fast actually scared me it was too fast) as long as your not gaining and doing what the nut and docs said I think you are doing great!! You got this!
  17. I didnt know any of this Thank you I am about 7 weeks out and had my first stall.... I think I was more concerned that it was because I am eating less then what the docs said>>> I just can't eat more then what I eat now... At least now I know not to freak out... I slightly had a moment ( no one knows about this moment but you and this site) But I was like crap I messed up something. Thank you for letting me know this is normal... I didn't gain anything... but I didnt lose... either... I lost recently ( last two days 2 more pounds) So I guess it is starting again... to be fair I lost 67 pounds in less then 3 months... So I know it has to slow down ( it does right?) I don't know if I am "normal" or just fell off quick . I get my protein daily And lost no hair WOOT!

  19. I get a kind of pain too... it feels like I need to burp... So I make myself burp... It might be from swallowing air its like a heavy feeling in my chest area.... Doc said not to worry about it as well... Stick with soft foods for a week see if they help and try to make yourself burp... I never burped so much my entire life and Now I do it a lot... it makes the pain weird feeling go away... it happens when I drink liquids and not sip them... like a full mouth full...Mine isn ot especially painful.... So see if forcing a burp helps.... IT can't hurt to try...
  20. I lost 28 pounds on my pre op liquid diet ( only solids were cottage cheese and yogurt) It was pretty cool actually... Learn how to season... and Protein meat... best low carb low fat you can eat and its not horrible to just eat meat Its whats helping me kick fats butt right now Since surgery I have to use condiments.... For my meats... so be prepared for that... Cos even the slightest not moist meat will give you trouble. You got this!! Rock it!
  21. I need to remember this one Thank you
  22. Surgery was Nov 30th. I started back at the gym on Jan 19th. Try the recumbent bike ( you sit and pedal your knees are kind of stretched out in front of you) it works out your core muscles (belly) ... your legs and your but with a low pain possibility. It is very good for someone with back knee and hip issues ( like me) I don't know if you have them but if you are just starting and need advice this is where I started before I ever had my surgery... IT works I got stronger my knees back everything got better and even before surgery etc I lost 26 pounds. I am also back to lifting weights... Doc said if I tolerated it to go for it... as long as I don't do too much tummy stuff ( I get enough from the bike right now) It's good
  23. Are you weighing and or measuring all you eat? They have a scale at wal-mart for like 8 bucks... Weigh all measure all And you will never worry about this topic again.
