    New Group...yay!

Thanks Gloworm for starting a new group. I guess with Dr K's retirement, it was about time for a move. I am sorry I missed Red Robin night. I hope to make the next get together. Let me know if one is already planned or if one is in the works. Just a little intro about me for those that I haven't met, I had my lap band in Jan of 2008....so coming up on 4 years now. I have lost most all of the weight I wanted to...still struggle with the last 10-15 lbs....and have maintained for the last couple years. It's hard for my friends and family to remember what I looked like back then, but sometimes I still struggle with thinking of myself as a fat person. I have lost about 85lbs total and have an active life. I went to Dr K's retirement and ran into Dee (Prtyantoveryet) and she looked amazing. We had our surgeries around the same time. What a blessing the lap band and Dr K have been. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you. I have realized that even though you get used to living with the band, you never really lose your need to have support. I wish you all the happiest of holidays! Rene'
  2. I joined the new group....Thanks Glowormvl!
  3. After calling around to other lap band practices $125 isn't that much at all. Most of them are at least several hundred dollars and definitely more than $25 for a fill, so Dr Weaver is a good option price wise. I am just hoping to find someone closer to where I live if possible. I meet Dr Weaver tomorrow so I will get a sense of if I can see him at Rose which is much closer to me. Like you, I am also concerned about how they do fills....so we shall see tomorrow. It was so nice to see you at Dr K's party. You look fab!
  4. Yes, Dr Weaver only charges $25 for fills, but you have to pay $125 for the initial consult. I am checking with Dr G to see what their initial consult fee will be. Dr Weaver is down way south at Sky Ridge, so it would be super convenient to have a fill doc up north where I am. Stay tuned....they are supposed to call me back today to let me know if there is a consult fee.
  5. Thank you. I live north and have been calling around....everyone is so expensive and charge major fees for the initial consult. I appreciate the intel....
  6. I'm planning on stopping by. Snowgator...do you have a first name so I will know who you are? Rene'
  7. Would love to see you guys at RR on the 11th, but will be out of town. I will see you at the reception for Dr K's retirement.

    My Before & After Photos!
  9. I would love to come to some kind of open house/reception. Especially if it's towards the end of October. My schedule will be much more open then. If you guys need help planning, let me know.
  10. Do we know what is happening with Tom? Will he be practicing with another physician or available at all to get fills from? Also, will there be some kind of retirement open house or anything that Dr K's patients can attend to show our appreciation? Rene'
  11. Maybe this has already been addressed, but why cant you take any pills? I take advil, excederine, when ever I need it without any issues. I also take a thyroid med every day. I don't crush or anything like that. The pills seem to dissolve pretty quickly and i havent ever had a problem with something getting stuck. Just my 2 cents.
  12. Amazing news! You are such an inspiration. I will be at RR on Jan 8th. That is the day before my 1 year Bandiversary. I am 10lbs from the Dr's goal.....not quite sure where I want to end up after that, I guess I will decide that when I get there. When I look at my body it seems I have so much more than 10 lbs to lose.....when will it occur to me that I have actually made great progress. With how slow I lose these days I don't think I will make that goal by January 9th, but I should be a little bit closer. I will bring all of my 14-16 clothes to RR night. Does that work for anyone else that is interested in becoming the new owners for my duds? I will see you at RR. Congrats on the need to update your Drivers License. I am so impressed by your weight loss Dee. I haven't seen you for a while so I bet there is a big difference. 18-20? That is awesome!!!
  13. Hi All, Something happened to me today that I can't ever remember happening in my ENTIRE life. When I got on the scale today my weight was the same as it is on my drivers license.....155. I have NEVER been anywhere near my drivers license weight. It's funny that we lie about that, isn't it? Anyway, I squealed with delight when I realized that I was no longer a liar:-) Hope everyone is well.
  14. Hi All, I haven't been around much lately but would like to find out if there is a Red Robin night coming up? Last month I actually showed up to Red Robin on the wrong night (missed it by a day), so I would love to come to the next one. Let me know if anything is in the works. Rene'
  15. Jamie, I did the same thing when I was in Bandster Hell. No worries, your fills will take care of it. The hunger monster will be tamed shortly! Be patient with yourself in the meantime:wink2:
  16. Julie Ann, Cassy and Nora-I am happy to accomodate all of you. I have THAT many clothes. Cassy I will pull out a few pairs of dress pants for you and anything else you are looking for. Let me know what you like. Do you want dress jackets, casual, etc? What size? Nora and Julie Ann, are you both available on Friday (early evening) for a meet up? I have a lot to go through and you guys can fight over anything you want. Send me an email to lifesavernelson@hotmail.com and I will send you guys my cell phone #. Any one else that needs clothes in sizes 14-16 let me know and you can join us. Rene'
  17. Hi Girls, It's been a few months since I have posted. I have an entire trunk load (and then some) of size 14-16 clothes if someone is in need. Most are less than a year old and pretty cute. (dress and casual clothes). I'm in the Denver area and would be happy to rendesveux with someone to drop off this great big load of clothes. If no takers, I will give to the good will.
  18. Hi Everyone, Drive by post here. I have been incredibly busy and may not be able to check in very often this week since I am traveling for work. Mini....My Halloween Challenge weigh in for last week was -2lbs. I haven't had a good week since then with eating so I'm not sure my results this week wont be sabotaged. Mal...good luck on your run. You will be awesome! Dee, Shelbi, any other BFL'ers. I haven't been doing great with the workouts and eating since I have been traveling. It's really hard to do this on the road. How are you guys doing? I had a really great NSV last saturday. I hiked four (4) 14ers on Saturday. It was a series of four 14,000 or above mountains (Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron and Bross Mountains) and it almost killed me, but I did it! I am really, really proud of myself. I cried on the way down because I was so happy. Bella, your fill is too tight girl. I also like the feeling of being a little tight, but I have to compensate by slowing my eating way down and figuring out how to get in all of the nutrition I need. You don't want to lose your hair, look sickly, or not have any energy, so you must get in your nutrients. Try a slight unfill and see how it goes. I read a few days worth of posts and you girls are obsessed with ice cream. I am too! When I am eating ice cream, it's the only time I feel like I did before lap band....it goes down so easy....so that's why I have to be very careful with it. Talk to you crazy folks later. Rene'
  19. Measuring Body Fat....There is only ONE really accurate way of measuring body fat and that is where they dunk you in a tank of water and it can be expensive. The 2nd best way is the skin fold test where you are measured with Skin Fold calipers. This is pretty accurate but it depends on the skill of the person taking the measurements. I don't recommend you rely on the accuracy of the Body Fat scales. Lots of factors can throw the measurement off to include how hydrated or dehydrated you are, if you are wearing clothes, etc.
  20. I agree with Brandy. I have a little bit of whatever I'm craving so I don't go nuts. Luckily with the band...a little bit usually satisfies me.
  21. Brandy...I am so releived that there wasn't the "C word". Still praying for his speeding recovery and that you can find a way to take good care of yourself. Mal....35 minutes of running.....shoot girl, you could train me!!! Incredible victory!!! Denver...I made a mistake a couple weeks ago when I was recommending protein powder. My absolute favorite is not made by Desiger Whey....it's made by Muscle Milk and the flavor is Chocolate Mint....if you are into that sort of thing. Bandster Hell will be over soon enough. I gained 6 lbs in that month so the fact that you stayed the same this week is a victory in my opinion. Shelbi, Dee, Anyone else doing BFL. Just checking in here. So far I have gotten my workouts in each day and stuck to my modified eating plan. Once more day until a free day. Woo hoo. Can't wait to eat some ice cream. Shelbi, if you are having your free day today, enjoy and have a pre yardsale drink or two for me. How are you guys doing with BFL? Anyone sore? I had a really hard time with my upper body workout this week due to the lingering pain in my shoulder from my Adventure Race Bike Crash. It's time to make that dr appointment I've been avoiding. If there are any others that want to join the BFL challenge at any time, just let us know. I think Denise, Adork and Mal are the other possible entries....just keep us posted so we don't lose track of you.
  22. Deb. I would love to meet you too. Unfortunately I will be traveling to Seattle that day for business. Hopefully there will be another opportunity.
