  1. I am currently 5 days post-op gall bladder removal, hernia repair and gastric bypass. I had Dr. McClosky at weightoss institute of the central coast. She is a skilled surgeon and I am glad I had her as my surgeon. She is very matter of fact so, don't be taken aback by this. She is very busy but, knows what she is doing. I just wanted to let you know if anyone was searching for a doctor on the California central coast.
  2. Hooray 5 days post-op feeling so much better. Off pain medications. So I don't know if this is normal? I have only been getting 1-20z of liquid every hour? That is all I can get in? Is that too little? If more than that I feel a pressure in my chest the next hour and I can't do the next hour. Sorry I am a newbie to the post-op side and I have been reading so many different things on what you should be able to intake including my handouts. Thanks for the help. 2oz it was supposed to say.
  3. Tdot77guy exciting for you:)
  4. March 9th doing very well off all pain meds on day four. Had three surgeries gastric bypass, hernia and gallbladder removal. Am excited for my one week post op appt to be off liquids and eat some yogurt or something other than water or broth lol.

    United Healthcare

I did not have to wait 2 years to start the process but I did have to do a sixth month weight loss with my PCP, Psych Eval, OBGYN, labs and meet with the nutritionist of the bariatric program and surgeon at least once. After I completed all the requirements they preauthorized me for the surgery and then it was authorized once they submitted paperwork. Call UHC they are really helpful and will tell you the requirements and your deductible/co-payment.
  9. Thanks so much and congrats on your success.
  10. Incredible:) I'm just worried I am going to be the only person who doesn't lose lol. Awesome job. You exercise and if so, how often?
  11. I was wondering what are some helpful items you use after surgery? Necessities: Bariatric Vitamins Complete with Iron Bariatric Calcium Protein Shakes/protein Water. Other Items I might want or need; Baby plates and spoons Water bottle Meal Prep Containers Protein Snack/Bars Can you think of some things that helped you?
  12. I'm from California. Have PCOS and Hypothyridism. I have two children and have been overweight since I was 8. I have always been active and was an athlete but I was always one of the biggest kids in schools. I do like to eat and not always the best foods and have tried most diets out there. I am hoping this works and I am going to give my all.
  13. I am so excited March 9 (25) days to go:)
  14. Thanks those are great ideas. I forgot about Chapstick and I need a water bottle so I will look it up. Thanks again everyone:) can't wait for surgery to be over with.
  15. Great suggestions. I am going to have some shopping to do. Thanks for the advice.

    New United healthcare

If it is on the exclusion list that means they do not cover it. I would also call the insurance company just in case and ask a representative if it is included in your plan. But honestly, if it states that then they do not cover it.
  17. My doctor expressed to me that she has to fix a hernia and therefore thinks that it would be better to do RNY. She states I have acid reflux of which I have no symptoms. I am highly anemic and RNY sometimes makes this issue even worse. I have been looking up that if they repair the hernia you have a 40 percent chance of having acid reflux/feed. I was wondering if any people have had similar issues? I do feel that gastric sleeve is right for me do to age, non-malabsorption, and somewhat slower weight loss. I have read many many stories with long term gastric bypass due to malabsorption. Thanks for your time. I meant GERD not feed lol.
  18. Thanks all:) I have discussed with my surgeon and she feels strongly about it but it is ultimately my decision:) thanks again all.

    Surgery dates?

My surgeons office is backed up. I won't have my surgery until March 9th, 2016. Can't wait.
  20. That is awesome thank You. My gut is telling me to go with the sleeve for some reason.

    Phentermine

No joke this drug made me fall asleep which is not common. But I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child so this might have something to do with it?
  22. I took this drug for a month of my supervised diet requirement made me dizzy, flat and not eat at all. I am not trying to starve myself and create even worse eating habits. I am currently on belviq until my surgery in March so, I'll see how that goes.
  23. It is ultimately your decision. You deserve support so, therefore be careful who you tell. I have learned the hard way. I told my co-workers and some of them have said some pretty hurtful things. When I think about the ones who matter most...their support is what I need. Not my co-workers:)
  24. Wow...I suck first post....I have read many stories of malabsorption issues with gastric bypass. Sorry.
