  1. LMAO!!! hahahahaha :w00t: I like that one! Hi can I join?? Im going to have surgery in May too! Im going to Dr Rumbrant in MX. I want to have it done on the 8th but Im waiting on a passport so I dont know if Ill have it by then. I ordered it last Friday. I didnt realize I needed one when I schedualed surgery. Last time I went to MX I just brought my Birth Certificate but I guess things are different now. But my pass port will come close to that date in May and the Dr said he can fit me in as soon Im ready. Im getting nervous! I keep checking the mail everyday hoping for my pass port!
  2. Congrats Sheila, Im getting excited too! OMG its almost here!! :scared2:I wish I would have had the money to do it this winter because it would have been nice to be down a few pounds for the summer but oh well. Theres always next summer. Im getting really nervous. Im going to MX alone because my hubby cant get time off work and I dont want to go with anyone else. Id rather go alone if he cant come. I was hoping to meet someone here who was going to Dr Rumbrant in May so maybe I could get the same weekend and I could know someone, but I havent met anyone who is planning on using him :w00t:. So looks like Im just going to have to put on my brave face and do it alone:cool2:. Its scary thinking of being in another country and having surgery without my hubby there. I just keep telling myself that this is a very well respected doctor who Ive done a lot of reserch on, and he isnt going to do anything weird to me. I have called a few of his patients off his referal list and also talked to a few people who used him here and everyone has nothing but nice things to say about him so that makes me feel a little bit better. Im going to get threw this and come out so happy I had the balls to do it.
  3. Wow :scared2:thats a really loooong preop diet! My doc only has me on clear liquids the day before surgery. :grouphug: I wouldnt be able to make it threw a month of a strict diet like that. But it will be worth it. Ill try to send some will power from my end!! Good luck :smile2:
  4. Anyone getting banded by Dr Rumbrant in the next few months?
  5. I considered the Balloon, but desided against it because I know I can lose weight, I just cant keep it off. The balloon doesnt keep the weight off and as soon as it is removed you are as hungry as you ever were because nothing is filling that space. Also, if it takes you longer than six months to lose the weight you would need another balloon and the price would start adding up. Or if I gained the weight back I would have had to get another balloon later down the line and the expense of it could just keep adding up and adding up. I had the same amount of weight, 50lbs, to lose. If you have a hard time with yo yo dieting and weight fluctuation then the balloon wont be a good choice. However if you feel really confident that you can keep the weight off without a tool afterwords then I guess it could work. From what my Dr told me, it wasnt originally designed for people with low weight loss. It was designed for people with goals of HUGE weight loss as a first step. Basically people who were so overweight that WLS would be too dangerous until they lost some of the excess weight. So they would be ballooned to lose that first stretch of weight until their blood pressure or whatever was in line enough so that they wouldnt die in WLS.
  6. Hi, I am going to MX in either late May or early June, but I chose Dr Rumbrant because he does the single insision surgery and I have enough scares to begin with!
  7. Hi I am going to have surgery with Dr Rumbaut in MX and I was wondering if anyone else was going in May or early June? It would be so nice to know someone there.
  8. Hi I am getting banded in Feb with Dr Kuri in Mexico. Is anyone else getting banded in Feb?
  9. Hi everyone. My husband just told me that I can go ahead and schedual surgery with Dr Kuri in Mx. I have been talking to hubby about it for a while and told him how Dr Kuri seemed wonderful; but he had reservations about Mex. Then we were watching the news last week and they did a special on Dr Kuri and hubby felt much much better about it. Yay! I emailed their office today and just waiting to hear back about a date. My BMI is just under 35 and I am 28 years old and a student and mother of two. Its so nice to finally post because I have been reading all of your guys posts for a long time and feel like I even know some of you from reading your post here haha while you have never really heard anything from me. Isnt that weird?! Anyways, Yay for me! Maybe Ill meet someone who will have surgery the same day as me. That would be so great because its scary even though Im excited.
  10. My BMI is just under 36 and I have documented foot problems from the weight. Would that count as a co-morbidity? Or is a co-morbidity something that is life threatning? And is a PPO more band friendly or a HMO?
  11. I am hearing this a lot lately...Someone said that its because they are making the new bands larger and it isnt giving some people enough restriction. IDK I dont have a band yet but this is concerning to me. I heard they made the bands larger because of erosion problems. Anyone have any info on this? I am curios too.
  12. I am in the process of shopping for personal health insurance. Which insurances are most low BMI band friendly? Any thoughts or suggestions?
  13. I chose band because I cant stand the thought of cutting my stomich and having parts removed. I am also low BMI so I think that such an envasive surgery is not warrented for me. My BMI is only 32 (But goes between 32-34 depending on how good Im being), so my insurance will not pay. Mexico has experianced surgeons and good prices. I am prob going to use Dr Kuri who has a great reputation and thousnds of band surgeries under his belt. :wink2: I have not gotten my sugery yet and still researching. I have been considering the band for several years, but not been in a financial situation to do it. I finally have more financial stability so I am re-researching (lol) and seeing these new band brands.
  14. This is what I wanted to know. I am no longer confused. I had heard of Inamed several times when I researched the band several years ago. I now hear Realize a lot. It is comforting to know that Allergen is made by Inamed and not a generic brand of band. I have more research to do, but the quicky answers are perfect to get me going in the right direction so I can get more facts.
  15. Hi do any of you have this band? I think most doctors in the US are using Realize band and that the old band of choice was an Emnad (or something like this) band. Whats the differences? Im going to Mexico and I want to make sure that Im getting a good band and not a "discount" band.
  16. Hi, I was reading threw threads and it sounds like some of yall have your ports in different places. Ex: I heard one person say that her port really bugged her bcause it was by her waist line, then another say that hers was down lower by her bikini line. Also, it kind of sounds like the ports may differ in shape. One girl said hers was like a sqare box, while the picture my doctor gave me, the port seems to look like a circle. I have also heard a person say their port was sutured to their rib cage even. Are there different port sizes, shapes and placing options?
