  1. The drain sounds scary! No test, they talked about it, but decided I didn't need it for some reason, just had me sipping Water about 24 hours after surgery to see how I'd tolerate it. No eating, apart from a teaspoon of Protein pudding so I could mix my heartburn meds into it. Felt pretty painful afterwards, tho I ate it very slowly. No Protein shakes, just water, though I've also had my gummy vjts, liquid Iron, and Calcium chews, but I let them dissolve slowly and felt pain afterwards. How are you feeling otherwise? 2. I was sleeved on Weds, came home last night. I've managed 16oz of Water today, just by keeping an insulated cup by me and taking a small sip at a time. It's not much, but it's a start. I did put a dash of water flavouring in, one of the Mio type ones, this one is green tea flavored. Have you tried a Water Enhancer? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  3. Walking is helping me a lot today, I think I just need to be more patient! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. I've been feeling a lot better while walking, just around the house so far, but I may go outside tomorrow. I managed 16oz of Water today, with flavouring, plus about 30ml of Protein pudding. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  5. That's good! How are you feeling? I slept so much better in my own bed, though I had to make a pillow nest to get close to comfortable. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  6. Mine was the 9th, I get waves of discomfort, which are worse when I swallow. I was told to persevere, especially with the Water, it's important to stay hydrated. Not managed to have a Protein shake yet, but I did get down about a teaspoon of protein pudding earlier. I used a tiny spoon! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  7. Prebiotic can help too, my pcp told me that hormones are absorbed and regulated by our gut bacteria too. My period arrived the day before surgery, it was fine though, I leaked in my hospital bed that night, but who cares? Mine are short, so it's pretty much done now, but I agree that it's painful to change a pad and wipe, especially if you're needing to wipe the seat too! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  8. That's reassuring, Bobby! Hope, my surgery was on the 9th, I'm only on the second day. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  9. No, tho my incisions look very fresh, and I'm covered in glue and some sort of blue antiseptic residue! It definitely feels like someone's been punching my stomach though! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you. Feeling a little better this morning, think I was rushing things! Had my liquid pain meds and anti nausea meds, sipping plain Water very slowly. I was up in the night to pee every couple of hours, so I'm hoping that's a good sign that I'm hydrated. Going to stick to clear fluids today, though my surgeon said I was okay to try full liquids last night, I think my new stomach had other ideas! Still feel full, my incisions feel tight, and my whole belly feels more like waves of extreme discomfort are washing over it, rather than actual pain. Difficult to get comfortable. Going to walk around the house a bit today, that seems to help. I was determined not to feel the regret that everyone talks about, I was so sure, but I'm definitely feeling less sure today!! 11. Just got home, after 3 days of water then nil-by-mouth I have a terrible headache and I'm so tired. I tried to make 4 oz of protein shake, I'd added the heartburn and nausea meds, plus my liquid painkillers. Thought I could sip it over a few hours but I've only had an ounce in an hour and a half, sipped slowly. Think I'll need to chuck it and go to bed! Need to wait another couple of hours for my children to go to bed first.
  12. I was expecting to be told to walk, but I'm still on the IV so I have to stay put. I'm making the most of my pee breaks, but I don't like sitting still at the best of times! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  13. Kept down 20ml of Water, hoping it keeps going well! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  14. Good luck! Mine was yesterday, still nil-by-mouth but I'm hoping it goes well when I drink so I can go home today.
  15. Are you using Water flavouring, like Mio? I've heard that helps. Or sugar free ice lollies? I had my surgery yesterday, still nil-by-mouth, and I'd heard that it's difficult to keep down water, so I'm worried too. It does sound like it's worth reaching out to your NUT, they'll be able to give you ideas and alternatives. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  16. I had mine yesterday, hoping to go home later today. I was very nervous, but there was very little pain. When I was coming out of the anesthesia I felt horrible heartburn pain, but the nurses were wonderful and it was just discomfort after they'd given me pain meds. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  17. My husband and 2 good friends know, and obviously my children, though they are very good at keeping quiet! I may end up telling more people, but for now I don't want to be involved in their issues, guilt trips, and accusations. Most of my friends are naturally thin, they have no idea how much harder it is to lose 100lbs+ and wouldn't be able to relate in a way helpful to either of us. My main motivation to tell would be so that I wouldn't feel I was lying to the few people in my life who are significantly overweight. Along with the obesity epidemic, there's a shame epidemic, that sense of "they can do it, but I can't, I'm a terrible person". Studies have shown that shame leads to weight gain, support (including positive things like beautiful plus sized clothing ranges and other things which make us feel accepted) leads to self acceptance, higher self-esteem, and the adoption of healthy lifestyle changes. But for now I'm not telling, I just don't want other people to think they have a place in my decision-making process. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  18. Woken up sore with a headache today, but a lot better than I thought I'd feel! Looking forward to having something to drink soon! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  19. I think the day after surgery is easier as far as dry mouth goes, but the day of surgery is tough when you are nil-by-mouth and you've been awake since midday! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. Everybody okay? I have heartburn but no real pain, yet! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  21. Yes, they'll give you a moistening swab if you ask. Good luck!
  22. They will give you mouth swabs if you ask, it's not awful, just dry! They also let me swish Water around my mouth when I went to the bathroom, just make sure you don't swallow! They said it's mostly due to my painkiller, the on-demand one, can't remember the name. It made me nauseous and sleepy too, so I'm not going to have any more unless I have pain beyond the heartburn. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  23. I'm done! Not even painful at all, just feels like heartburn. Nil by mouth until tomorrow, which is fine by me! Many have talked about the dry mouth, it's definitely an issue. I got a dry mouth pocket spray from CVS and I'm so glad of it. Just make sure you get the proper dry mouth spray rather than the regular breath spray. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  24. First day of the rest of our lives!
  25. Good luck to my sleeve buddies! See you on the other side! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
