I smoke for pleasure and to lessen pain. I use topicals to lessen pain and soften skin. For me it is an amazing healer of body and mind! I intend to continue marijuana use after my wls. Everyone is free to choose how or if they use it. Even my mom and grandma use a cannabis salve I make! ???? ✌

You just need to find the right strain that works for you! Not all of them will make you hungry, and if it does just make good choices and eat healthy. There are tons of doctors prescribing meds every day. A lot of the side effects are increased hunger and weight gain. This thread (well, the ignorant comments) made me laugh! So thankful for my cannabis script;)

My GI dr doesn't condone it of course but does understand my use. We agree I need to fix my problem (gallbladder & hernia) so I won't mask my problems with cannabis. She referred me to the surgeon that I am seeing Tuesday.

This topic is merely being presented as an educational topic with hopes that there has been experiences in the use of Marijuana after bariatric surgery. I smoke marijuana maybe once a week like having a glass of red sangria to relax after a long hard week. Although I'm not a frequent user, I am wondering if I will be able to use it after surgery. Fact for me is that it does induce hunger and I am sure this would not be condusive to being successful after the sleeve, but let's be real, there may be users out there who give it try. Unfortunately, there are not any concrete studies on this either like there is for tobacco and alcohol users.
So feel free to enlighten and share your thoughts.
    Thanks!
