Don't understand why you're lost, 3 meals @ 20 grams of Protein plus 2 protein Snacks in day add up to 80 plus. Everyone is different on recommended volume after surgery.
I was told 1/2 cup to start of meat, 1/2 a cup of tuna is over 20g of protein. Yogurt is also very high for the snack. Everyone is different.
I just have a hard time believing that the 5' tall woman and 6'7" guy need the same amount of protein.
3 weeks post op with gastric bypass.
Dr recommends 60-80 grams of Protein per day. This is recommended to everyone. Question is, I'm 6'7" - 290 now and large build. This seems low to me. I can get 80 with just food and no Protein shakes. I don't want to add calories for no reason, but feel more protein may be needed.
Any suggestions
I find it odd that every doctor is completely different on diet pre and post op.
Yogurt seems like an obvious choice, but my doc said no. Just Protein and water/sugar free drink for 2 weeks.
I am down 16 lbs since Monday weigh in.
Pain is different for everyone. I've had 3 back surgeries and day 1 was worse with this. No belly band option was given.
I'm better now and ready for something besides shakes.
Surgery went well. Day 1 and 2 are tough. Keep on the pain meds and you'll be good. Day 3 has been a lot better.
Don't be surprised if you doubt your decision at first, it's rough. Very happy still.
