  1. Try Dr Duperier at BMI of Texas in SA medical center--they watch you drink before and after fill to see restriction--they are on Huebner Rd

  3. I changed Dr's after 3 fills and not seeming to get results. I found that some Dr's had better equipment and did each fill using a flouroscope so they could see the results immediately by having you swallow the barium stuff as soon as they put in some fill and could get the fill very close in 1 Dr visit. I'm sure you drank some barium on a scope before they let you leave the hospital so every DR has some access to the needed equipment
  4. Do you know the brand of the band he is going to use? If so the band company might give you names of their surgeons in Alberta. My wife had her band done in Mexico and after only 2 fills her surgeon said he couldn't do any more even though she traveled to him in Mexico. Ask your surgeon if he has names from Canada.
  5. I get fills from a different Dr. than the one who did my band because the new Dr. uses the flouroscope each time making it much more exact(they see the restriction immediately on x-ray) and he only charges $300 even though he didn't do the surgery--I originally went for 4 fills with the first Dr. who did it by experience--guessing--but never got good restriction--the $900 is very high going by San Antonio rates
  6. Dr Duperier is a little arrogant and did not do my band but he is EXTREMELY good at what he does and will normally fill any band--his office has the best equipment in San Antonio but I don't know if he has an office in Austin
  7. I have had almost exactly the same experience as 2muchfun --Since banding I have never felt full or even near full--I get "hangs" almost daily now but I cook my food especially to get them using mostly chicken breast meat and pork cooked very dry because I want this band to work--I wonder if the hangs come from the band being almost tight enough--I quit my surgeon for fills because he only guested at what was happening and found another clinic which uses the fluoroscope for every fill doing it before and while filling only stopping after seeing the amount of restriction--no matter how experienced your surgeon any other way is just a guess--I lost 114 lbs before banding by dieting on only 26 lbs in 5 months after--I can lose by feeling starved but that's not what I was told would happen and definitely not what I paid for
  8. I use grown flax seed instead of fish oil calsules--the flax seed has 3 different omegas and a high concentration--mix it with something as the taste is not very good

  10. I guess I have the opposite problem of most here--I was banded 12-23-11 and it's not tight enough yet--I think-- the only way it feels li8ke it works is if I barely chew a large piece of dry meat(chicken breast, roast beef or roast pork) and then swallow it whole--I do this slowly on my first few bites and see if I can "feel" it hit the band and if I can I chew a little better but still leave it pretty coarse--it hurts a lot if it truly hangs but I am ready for this band to work--anyone else that does this?
  11. I had my surgery on 12-23-11 and first fill on 1/23/12--I nearly starved before then and felt a little something for a couple of days and then felt like I had no band --I only remembered this forum today and am very glad I found it because I am going in for a second fill tomorrow and might have really said something to the Dr because I am ready to not be starving and loose weight again--I lost 114 lbs. before surgery and got it to loose 105 more --I am getting conflicting information from the Surgeon. and his nutritionist because he basically says to starve myself and she says the 6 weeks after surgery are to heal and loose if it happens--I went to a very good diet Dr and weight lost clinic who were attached to another banding group that dissolved and she helped me loose weght that stayed off for the first time in my 65 years of dieting--I am actually thinking of going back to her for weight lose with this band and finding someone else to do my fills if he objects--her name is Dr. T. Rogers in San Antonio and she is very knowledgeable with a very complete weight lose clinic
