March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Well, the cake is in a neighbor's freezer. I put it there right after making all those phone calls this AM cancelling the party. DH is still trying to get home with the kids. I have started packing up some stuff around the house. We will be putting it on the market soon, so I am trying to de-clutter. Keeping busy and if I start to feel like munching I have a plan to visit a friend. Today was weigh in day. I lost a pound!!!! I am thrilled with this considering I ate a whole box of Girl Scout Cookies on Thursday. Imagine what my loss would have been without those extra calories and carbs from those. I have been looking over my food journals and there is a strong correlation between Protein and loss. I really have to go low carb or else I don't lose. I can have 900 calories and day and not lose if they are carb calories. I can have more calories and lose more with less carbs and noticably more protien. So that's the plan for the next few weeks. March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
I find that if I eat Breakfast I am hungrier throughout the day. Especially if I have a high carb breakfast. If I have eggs I am good for a few hours. I guess it goes along with my all or none mentality (which I am working on changing). Yesterday and today I have done really well with my eating and excersize. I am really stressed right now. My DH (I don't mean "dear" right now) took our 3 kids to California to visit his family ( I told him not to). You would think I would be having a blast enjoying my solitude but nooooo. They were supposed to be back on Friday. We fly standby, my DH works for an airline. We can only fly if there are empty seats. No seats all day yesterday and not looking good for today. This would be no sweat if we did not have a big party planned tomorrow for my DS and DD. So, if they don't make the red-eye tonight I will be calling 30 people tomorrow morning to cancel our party...and I have a beautiful cake sitting upstairs to feed about 50 people...that will need to be disposed of. If you are the praying type, could you give a shout out that they make it home before 1 tomorrow afternoon....and that I don't eat that cake if the party does not happen. Going for a walk now. Too stressed to stay in the house alone. Christine

Harley....I love the tatoo. They did a great job. Yesterday I was not feeling well at all. Had this horrible pain in my lower abdomen and into my back. Dont' know what that was all about but today I feel better. Christine

Burping a lot here too. It really does bother me. I am hoping that as time goes by and my body gets used to this new way of eating it will get better. Christine

I just ate a whole box of Girl Scout cooks...WTF was I thinking? I have done so well the past two weeks. I simply cannot believe I did this. I now am getting on the treadmill and walk my butt off. Tomorrow I plan on walking the 25 blocks and 3 avenues to the train station after work instead of taking the subway. WTF was I thinking? Fenton, are you nervous about the verdict tomorrow? One of my neighbor's who is an MTA cop said they have called in 1000 extra officers for tomorrow. He thinks someone was tipped off that there's going to be a not guilty verdict. What do you think? I work near Colombus Circle and am hoping that everything will be quiet. Christine

Fenton, does you brother know you are banded? Just wondering because when I talk to my DH about some of the struggles I have with making the right choices and limiting myself he really questions the band. He just does not understand the whole process. I find it very frustrating. I know if I had gone for seconds on the bread he would have brought it up. Congratulations on killing your belt! I can't wait for my waist to get smaller. I've lost face, boobs and butt. The swelling and reddness from my reaction is still hanging around, so maybe once that is really gone I'll notice a difference in the tummy. Christine

(((Carrie))) I understand where you are coming from. I hope that you will get a fill soon and it will give you some motivation to get back on track. This s not easy, but we all kne that going in. Pick yourself uptake a few deep breaths and try again starting now. I've stumbled and fallen flat on my face a few times on this journey. I have not lost weight in 2 weeks and that is tough, but it is what it is. I have started journaling all my food and I have been studying the CAMP program ( I ordered thebook from the website someone had posted a while back). Know you are not alone. Hugs! Christine

I went for my first fill today. Dr. Ren put 3cc in my 10cc APS band. She told me to schedule another for next Friday...the receptionist worked really hard at getting me an appt, but it ends up she scheduled it for this Friday and I did not notice until I was on the bus. Too late to call and reschedule at that point, but I'll call tomorrow. I'm on liquids for 2 days and then mushies for 2 days, so I won't know if I have restriction or not until Saturday when I begin real foods again. I told the surgeon that I would like to get that first week after surgery feeling of satiety and satisfaction and she said that is what we are aiming for. I was so relieved to hear it. I was fearing that I had unrealistic expectations. The scale is stalled, but it's OK. No gain, no loss...I'll take it. Christine

Kerri, thanks for the website with the band excersizes. They look really, really doable. I think I'll buy myself a band and get to work on those arms. Harley, while waiting for the train this morning I saw a guy who looked just like the lead singer of the band Journey. It ends up he's the lead singer in a Journey look alike band who ( according to other passengers) are really good. It's kind of strange to come home form work and log on to find you guys talking about Journey here. Christine

I would like to give yoga a try. I need to find a way to relax and I hear it is very good for the core muscles. I have taken a few tai chi classes in the past and am looking forward to taking some tai chi classes as well. I am going to talk to my doctor about excersizes today. Christine

Carrie, you have to dump the candy. I made my kids get rid of all their Easter candy, because I was eating it. I know you just bought it, but you must get rid of it. This is bandster hell. I've been hungry since 2 weeks post op. I go for my 1st fill tomorrow. I hope you can get one soon. Hugs! Christine

Banded one year, no weight loss
I find that carbs make me feel hungrier. I allow myself a bowl of Cereal as a treat every once in a while. I can do oatmeal and feel full, but when I do the dry cereals with milk, I could eat it all day and not feel full. Also I would think that the milk in the bowl of cereal pushes the cereal through the band quicker, thus making you feel hungrier quicker. It seems to me you would do better on real foods. You've got to get more Protein in to feel full longer. If meats and solid foods are giving you that much trouble maybe you are over filled and need a small un-fill? I really think the best thing for you to do is to see your doctor. They want you to succeed. They are there to help you. Best of luck to you! Christine

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Fenton, thanks for the Slimfast. I go for my fill on Tues so it will be 2 days of liquids for me again. I really appreciate not having to buy more. If there is anything I can do for you let me know. I have lost 29 pounds and started at 288. Few people notice the difference in me. I guess it can compare to 55 lost at 473 to start. My super tight clothes are now fitting and those jeans that I went to the park in right before surgery with the super huge sweatshirt covering the button and zipper that would not close at all can now be buttoned and zipped. Still tight, but closed. I bought a new outfit to wear to a party we are having for my son next week. I think people will notice the difference because it is a new outfit and it fits well. Wish I could say it's a smaller size, but it's not. I had not shopped for myself for a long, long time. Everything was super tight or elastic. Anyway I am really looking forward to my fill on Tuesday! Christine

Scrappy, I lost 17 in the month before surgery and 12 (tempted to type "only" before that 12, but I held myself back) since surgery on the 24th. I find I'm having a hard time some days with knowing that I did better on my own before surgery than after, but am working on it. Do you find you do this sometimes, or can you just be grateful those pounds are gone? I think I remember you saying you had not dieted before starting on your journey to lapband. I have been on diets since I was 12 yrs old. Just wondering how the other side sees things. Christine

Kerri, I definatly get an achy feeling, sort of a deep pulling in the area of the port when I overexert myself. It's still healing in there. I think we assume that since all the external stuff is healed up the inside is done as well. But it's not, scar tissue is still forming and the port is still settling in. I still have a lot of swelling across my abdomen in the area where all my incisions are. I think most of it has to do with my allergic reaction because it travels the same path. Still super itchy too, but not as red. Christine

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
The dermatologist gave me some new medication yesterday. Great news there is no fungal or bacterial infection in the rash. She says it's just an allergic reaction to either the adhesive or the betadine that they rub on your tummy for surgery. Either way, this new cream is supposed to clear it up. It will be wonderful to no longer be so dang itchy! I'm looking forward to my fill on Tuesday. I start regular foods today. I really hope that I can soon feel like I did for about 5 days after surgery....no hunger and quick satiety....how realistic is that? DH comes home this weekend. He's been away since 6 days post-op, so it will be interesting to see if he notices I've lost anymore weight. I had lost 17 before surgery and then it's been 12 since the surgery. I think if I add the treadmill to my routine things will move quicker and the fill will hopefully help too. For those of you who've had fills did you feel much restriction after your first? Christine
