  1. So I'm about a month and a half post band to sleeve revision (5/10 surgery) and I'm feeling very frustrated and confused about my lack of weight loss. I started at 236 and shortly after surgery (2 weeks postop) was down to 220. I'm now down to 214. I haven't moved for about a month. I was logging my food whole hog at the beginning but fell off the wagon for a couple of weeks but in the past week have gotten back at it in order to get a handle on things. At my last follow up appt my surgeon asked how much Protein I was taking in (when he found out I stalled) and I told him I was aiming for around 60 grams. He told me to only aim for 40. That seems counterintuitive to me especially being pre-diabetic with PCOS. His office doesn't have a NUT so I only have him to rely on. At this point I'm beyond frustrated. He wants me down another 20 lbs by the time I go back to see him in a month. Everyone else on here seems to have the weight melt off and I'm sitting here much like I was before with the band - feeling very frustrated and wondering why I did this. I'm committed to tracking my intake, getting more exercise, and getting my protein in but beyond that I'm at a loss. Any suggestions - especially from those who have done a band to sleeve conversion?? Thanks for "listening".....
  2. For me it's not paying attn to portions as well as drinking while eating. I had a slipped band for several years and I learned to drink in order not to puke with the band. I also like spicy, salty food which NEEDS liquid! As for overeating - I haven't figured out my portions yet. I sat down tonight and ate half an avocado and some cottage cheese. WAY TOO MUCH FOOD and I ended up puking! Not good barely 2 weeks out. I need to do like others have said and push the plate away if I'm enjoying my food too much. I am so scared I'm going to fall back into my bad band habits but I keep reminding myself one mess up doesn't ruin things forever. Just need to restart tomorrow!
  3. I'm so glad I stumbled on this thread! I was sleeved last week and have noticed the sweat/hot flash feeling a couple of times now and shortly after knew I'd eaten too much! Haven't noticed the sneezing or runny nose. So remarkable these bodies of ours!

    TMI: My first BM

I have a friend who has hemorrhoid problems and her doc recommended the squatty potty. She swears by it!! I'll have to look at BBB!
  5. Learned a lesson today: if you eat too fast and subsequently a bit too much you will feel like dog crap. I got this overwhelming feeling of nausea, got really hot, felt faint, and my heart started beating really fast. Read some posts on here about what others have experienced and apparently that's not uncommon esp if you eat very quickly. I was starving and lunch tasted awesome. 1 week post revision band to sleeve and on full liquids. Easily getting in fluids. Not easily getting in Protein. And constipated as hell! (Started benefiber to help with that) Definitely difficult to relearn 20+ years of eating quickly (occupational hazard as a nurse - lunch is when you get it!). Next meal - new chance.
  6. I'm with you there! Pre-op I loved water and decaf iced tea. Post-op the only thing that I'm loving is Crystal Light blackberry lemonade. I buy the squeeze bottle and just squirt it in. I'm 1 week post op and struggling to get the Protein in. The liquids are not a problem at all. Glad to know I'm not alone!
  7. My doc told me to not worry about protein until full liquids. Today was day 1 of those and I struggled! Couldn't finish but half a shake. Don't feel as sore today but had major breakdown with hubby. Just lost it. Mix of everything I think hit me. Better now and tomorrow is another day. Hopefully I'll do better with goals! Good luck to you!

    Protein suggestions

I love Total Lean 25 from GNC. Banana is fabulous (add a little choc pb2!!) and cookies and cream is pretty good too. I don't like the vanilla but my hubby does. The chocolate left a funny aftertaste. It was the only thing that made the pre-op diet doable! I add some Fairlife milk sometimes for a creamier shake and extra protein. As for the others...Quest salted caramel was pretty good. I have some single packs of those to try. I also use the Unjury unflavored to add into things.
  9. I was converted on the 10th also. Pretty sore still. Said my stomach was a mess of twists that took them awhile to undo before they could sleeve. Just glad to be done!
  10. I'm right there with you Megall9!! Spent today on protein shakes and had egg drop soup for dinner! Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning! Best wishes to you!
  11. Did your mom not ask why you weren't eating? It would have been an interrogation at my or my husbands parents house! I'm in the same boat - no one knows so I'm just avoiding them! I'm scheduled for 5/10 and in my pre-op diet phase now too. Doing a revision from band to sleeve. I get whatever Protein shakes and other sugar free liquids I want plus a half cup of cottage cheese and a cup of milk per day. Been living in Total Lean 25 shakes, Jello, and egg drop Soup the past 3 nights. First day was rough - but now it's no big deal. Good luck to all of you!!!
  12. I am scheduled for a revision from band to sleeve on May 10 (yes, two weeks away) and after reading people's posts on both sleeve and bypass I'm starting to wonder if I should revise to bypass instead. I was originally banded in 2008 at a starting weight of 260. Lost about 60 lbs but have gained 30 back. Band has slipped from puking, I have slight reflux (kept in check by a ppi), PCOS, and pre-diabetes. I need to lose right at 100 lbs to be at my "desired" weight although I'd be happy losing 50-75. So I know for the amount of weight I want to lose the sleeve makes sense. I'm just nervous about failing yet again. I know it wasn't all the band's fault - I didn't follow the rules 100% of the time. I am tired of sliming and puking and fighting to get to the green zone - I've finally given up on the band working so I am moving on - but I need to know to what?!?! Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!
  13. I don't know if you're referring to me or not but by all measures I AM morbidly obese - hence the reason I'm having surgery AGAIN. My BMI is right at 41. I need to lose 100 lbs to be at my desired weight but I said I would be thrilled with 50-75 - more because I haven't seen that weight in 20+ years and I can't imagine what it's like. If I have the sleeve and with work that's all that comes off I'm good with that. But having comorbidities and being unable to lose on my own, surgery IS a last resort I'm not rushing into without some thought.
  14. You're right - I didn't specify reasons. Basically it's the fear of failure again. And yes, I know I can fail with anything if I don't follow the rules and use it as a tool. I love sweets so I'm intrigued by the idea of "dumping" as a deterrent. I also fear the sleeve is new so that's why it's being pushed - much like the band was 8 years ago and I bit. I really think overall I'm having risk of failure fears right now knowing I have another opportunity at this again. I had great intentions the first time but alas here I am still obese. I know when it's done it's done and I'll make it work regardless. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts to help me get through this uneasiness. Thanks for all your support!

    Kansas city area sleevers?

Hey group! Just came across this thread - great to see you all doing so well! I am currently banded but in the process of going through all the hoops to get it revised to a sleeve. Thought it was going to be done this month but due to insurance stuff looks like it won't be until February or March. Minimally Invasive Surgical Hospital did my band in 2008 and will do my revision. So looking forward to getting on with the sleeve! And looking forward to hearing more about your journeys!!
