What were your favorite first "solid" foods?
@@Whitney, have you ever thought about trying to substitute pasta with zucchini or spaghetti squash?? They've worked for me...I'm still pre op, but I've used that in my previous diets and did well when I really wanted some spaghetti or lasagna or even chicken alfredo...

I've got my Date Oct. 19, Anyone close to that?
I'm scheduled for 10/26 down here in Texas. I'm definitely feeling a mixture of things...but I'm mostly excited to start this next chapter in my life!! I spent my childhood, teens, 20's and half my 30's being overweight-super morbidly obese. This ends later this month! I'm finally taking control! I want to set a better example for my daughter!!

Time off work? One week? More?
my surgery will be on a monday and they said i will stay overnight, the dr only does followups on fridays but they said the friday that week is too soon, so i wont be released for work until at least the following friday. i spoke to my supervisor (who had the r n y) and she advised that since that would put me coming back to work on a saturday (my scheduled work day), why not just take off til the following week. I have plenty of sick time stored up and was told that for fmla, its better to request off more than i need then come back early if im up to it, then to have to extend later...oh, the joys of working for a city

Looking for friends/support
I'm new to wls and could use all the support i can. don't get me wrong I have a loving husband (who happens to be skinny as a rail) and a beautiful 10 year old daughter who both support me through everything...but they don't know or understand what i'm going through! i do have a cousin who also happens to be getting sleeved! he was banded in 2013, had it removed earlier this year and is now getting sleeved...he's really the only person semi close who understands. Please feel free to add me. i scheduled my surgery for 10/26/15, i pray it all works out!

Hiatal hernia
I haven't had my surgery yet, but my surgeon advised if he happens to find one while in there, he'll repair it and it takes an extra 5 mins, then done...from what i can tell recovery time doesnt change much either. he was going to do an endoscopy but decided unnecessary since insurance already approved and i needed to get it scheduled asap. he said he will check while doing the surgery though, im confident it will work out

Any October 14th suargery dates out there?
I'm scheduled for 10/26...I can't believe it's finally happening and yet I'm so scared that something is going to happen between now and then...ugh!! it needs to just get here already!!!!

From Cigna to United. Need Advice!
I have uhc through my job, I work for the city i live in. I had to wait 6 months, and have been approved to have the surgery. We scheduled it for 10/26, hopefully nothing changes. I am also getting cigna (I'll be double covered) through my husband's job, but his plan says cigna doesn't do bariatric. That's why I'm keeping my uhc coverage. Anyway, I'm still so nervous that somehow uhc isn't going to cover it even though I was told it was approved.... I guess it's just jitters, this is my first time having any kind of surgery, other than a cesarean section...
