  1. This is called an ileus. It occurs after surgeries, just about any kind of surgery. Unfortunately not much can be done to prevent. Good news is just because he had one after back surgery he isn't any more at risk for having one again. The NG tube is to give his bowel time to rest. It's actually called "bowel rest" and the ileus will usuall correct itself with bowel rest.
  2. I had surgery on 10/27/15. I am doing well. It's a real chore getting my water and protein down, but I'm doing it. I am rarely hungry. Even when I am I don't think it's true hunger, I think it's just moments of food nostalgia. I went back to work on 11/02/15, did fine. I walked on the treadmill for the first time today and was amazed how quickly I got tired, but I'm sure that will continue to improve. I am not really excited about starting puréed foods, I'm not hungry and bowls of paste don't tempt me at all.
  3. I am only 1 week post op, but would love to know when ya'll were able to comfortably sleep on your side again? Really miss that.

  5. Ironically I was going to post a similar post. Had surgery 10/27/2015. It also takes me about an hour and a half to get protein shake down and another hour and a half to drink a bottle of water. I have the headache as well but am thinking it is from anesthesia although it could be caffeine withdrawal. Still very fatigued and sore. it's getting a little better each day but wish I was a little more "back on my feet" . So are others experiencing the same?

  8. When I got home from work today my insurance approval letter was on the table... I thought I'd be so excited. But I'm just scared.
