  1. I bought the pack. I don't like the chocolate splendor, it was way too sweet for me. I do like the strawberry mixed with water. I already drank both of those. Haven't tried the others yet.
  2. I have only told my sister (who will hopefully be accompanying me to Mexico) and my boyfriend. I'm a full time student, and my surgery is scheduled during our winter break, as that is really the only break we have to give me recovery time. I haven't told my roommate, but there's no way the Protein shakes and bars have escaped her attention. She probably thinks I'm on a high protein diet. I don't usually eat at school, but I have been drinking Protein Shakes for Breakfast in class, so when I come back no one should notice a difference. I'm also giving Greek yogurt another try, since it's a good source of protein. I'm hoping that I can fly under the radar as long as possible, as my college is just like a high school, and secrets don't stay that way for long. But I'm sure people will start to notice and get curious.
  3. My plan had no coverage for bariatrics- so not even a consult would be paid for.
  4. Mirena is a good option. Nothing to remember every day and more effective than a copper IUD. I haven't had a period in 2 years. I did have unfortunate side effects of cystic acne and hair loss when starting a few weeks after my IUD was inserted, but my GYN prescribed a month of the pill and that evened me out.
  5. Bariatrics were excluded from my BCBS TX policy too.
  6. December here, too! But my insurance excludes bariatrics, so I'm self-pay in Mexico.
  7. From what I can tell from Google, whey isolate weighs 400g per liter (1000mL) this would mean that the 30g in one shake occupies a little less than 1 tablespoon (12mL). The whole shake is 11 fluid ounces (about 330mL). The shake would be mostly water because even with all the vitamins and minerals, those things are in tiny quantities.
  8. You could always buy dry beans, then boil and mash them. It's more work but you can be sure they're vegetarian and they'll probably be lower sodium.
