  2. Surgery 12/22. First day home was rough-VERY sore. But then each day has improved, have yet to meet the Water or Protein recommendations. I just get way to full and the GAS pains have just started-WHEW!! Whole other story. But I used my gas-x strips and dam near walked the carpet off my floors. Feel much better now. Smells are the same for me. Very potent all of a sudden. Gonna start on the treadmill tomorrow very slowly to get this gas moving along. Good luck everyone!! The best part 6.5 lbs lost since surgery.

  4. BCBS IL has three requirements: the BMI, nutrition/fitness assessment, and psyche eval. My surgeon's office filed once those three were met and I still had other studies pending specific to the surgeon (bone density scan, stress test, etc.) I was approved before the others were completed. BCBS IL does not have a 6 month nutrition or medically supervised requirement. Hope that helps.

  20. I have BCBS Illinois-PPO. I saw the surgeon Sept. 17th; paperwork filed Nov. 5th, My paperwork was misfiled with the incorrect group per BCBS. I called and requested that my pre-authorization be escalated for due to their error and possible postponement of my procedure. They returned my call within 10 minutes with approval this AM! Just awaiting scheduler. Just make certain that the office provided you with a fax confirmation, date, and time. That is how my 'misfiled' paperwork was located
  21. I actually have BCBS-IL and was just approved today. The requirements are provided here http://www.medicalpolicy.hcsc.net/medicalpolicy/activePolicyPage?lid=ia2d1toe&corpBrand=Boeing&corpEntCd=IL1. Aetna is offered from my job. And here is there policy http://www.aetna.com/cpb/medical/data/100_199/0157.html. The BIGGEST difference without consideration to what your deductible will be is that Aetna requires six months medically supervised program. BCBS Illinois does not. I basically had three things: BMI 35 or greater, psyche eval, and nutrition consult. My surgeon wanted en EGD and stress test but those things could be done at any time prior to surgery. Hope that helps!
  22. Congratulations!!I too received my approval after initially being filed Nov. 5th. Called EVERY day since and finally after the surgeon's office provided the fax confirmation, the insurance company admitted that it was misfiled and a supervisor had it sent for review today. They called back within 10 minutes and provided a reference #. Same as you, just waiting for a scheduler to call now. Excited and nervous all at the same time. Good Luck to you!!!

  26. Hi Amber, I haven't been sleeved yet but started trying different protein preparations in advance. The one I have found that has the best taste and packs the most punch is Premier Protein-30 grams. Comes in 3 flavors-chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. I get it at Sam's. But it's available at Walmart etc. Cold is best! Also, try an unflavored protein powder. That way anything that you blend with (crystal light, broth, etc.) it will take on that flavor. Good luck!
