  1. @@chrys129 I too am looking forward to putting myself back out into the dating world. Let's do this girl!
  2. I have been pretty physical most of my life but still overweight. I use to run races yet my knees were not cooperating. I am hoping that getting this weight off will help my knees and I will be able to run again.
  3. I find out my time tomorrow. Stay positive...WE GOT THIS! ????
  4. I have lost 8# just in the past few days of preop diet.
  5. My son is 12 so he is a little more understanding. I explained to him that I was having surgery for health reasons. I explained to him the process and that I will be spending the night in the hospital. I told him that it will prolong my life and that I will have more energy to be able to do things with him and that it will aid me in loosing weight and keeping it off. I already had a pretty healthy lifestyle. I worked out 4xs a week and he would accompany me to some of my classes. He knows the struggle I have with staying healthy. We don't focus on the weight part of it because he told me he loved me heavy or not. My suggestion would be to keep it to a 6yr old level. Let her know that they are going into to look at your tummy, and give you a tool to help you become healthier. If she proceeds with questions just keep it to her level. My fear was scaring my son. So I kept it so that he understood but wasn't feared.
  6. Doing great! Monday will be here before I know it. I am having a little anxiety over the unknown. I am excited...just a little nervous. My preop diet is going well I start clear liquids Saturday.
  7. There is a form. I received it through my surgeons office.
  8. Can anyone tell me if they submitted for the bariatric choice vitamins for low income? If so, about how long before you received your shipment. My doc sent off today and surgery date is Oct 5th. Would like to be sure I have vitamins on hand.
  9. I will try my best to do post op also. I go tomorrow for my preop registration and specific instructions. It has started to set in that it's real! ????
  10. Where is everyone from? New Orleans here!
  11. I have an official date of Oct 5th!
  12. Hi all, I am Mindy-36yrs old and from New Orleans (the place of AMAZING food lol). I am approved by insurance and currently awaiting two potential dates. It could be Oct 5th or the 12th. If not then I go into November. Awaiting the call any minute now...anxiousness is getting to me. I have started my preop diet which is two shakes and a small meal (Protein and veggie only).
  13. I am currently awaiting if I will be Oct 5th or Oct 12th :D
  14. This process seems to be going pretty fast. If all goes well with my paperwork (which I did a lot of leg work on) I could be scheduled for end of September.
  15. Thanks @@ShrinkingPeach I am just trying to figure out what to expect. I didn't really expect everything to move so quickly I guess. How long from consult until surgery date scheduled? I believe my insurance has already approved and this is why I am scheduled for pre op nutrition on the 2nd. I just don't want to be caught off guard tomorrow with having to pick a date for surgery.
  16. I have completed nutrition classes and received all clearances required. My last step is to schedule an EGD but was told this needed to be done no sooner than 30 days of surgery. I consult with the surgeon tomorrow, and am awaiting their call to know what to expect from this visit. I received a phone call today to schedule my pre-op nutrition class, yet I have not even had consultation with the surgeon yet. So I am a little nervous/anxious that they will want to pick a surgery date tomorrow! I actually started most of this due to my diabetic health. After all attempts it was suggested to do surgery. So my process with WLS was short so far as I had already completed most requirements.
  17. I have a consultation appointment tomorrow. I have already started my process. Best of luck to you on your journey!
  18. Hi all! I have my consultation appointment tomorrow afternoon. I have already completed most of my insurance requirements. I have a phone call into the surgeons office as to what I should expect tomorrow. I received a phone call from the nutritionist to schedule pre-op nutrition class for September 2nd. Can anyone shed some light on what to expect? Does this mean that they are ready to schedule surgery? Nervously awaiting their return call. Thanks for your input in advance, Min
  19. I have not used Dr. Lavin, but did consult with a number of his patients. From the information I have gathered he is great. I am using Dr. Treen from West Jeff.
