  1. I'm interested to see what kind of restriction I have with the sleeve. I seem to do really well with restriction and listen to my body when it tells me I'm full.
  2. The bread/rice/pasta thing is for people who've had the lap band.
  3. My revision from band to sleeve took 4 hours.
  4. Got my sleeve and the first thing the dietician asked me when she came in my room was if I wanted any ginger ale! I said, I'm not supposed to have that. Then she started arguing with me!!! She said, it's a clear liquid so you'll be fine. I asked her to verify that with the surgery staff. She promptly came back and apologized. Can you imagine how much pain I would have been in from ginger ale right after surgery? OMG.
  5. Take a back scratcher! OMG this was the best decision I've ever made and that is no joke! You'll thank me later.
  6. After 9 long months of jumping through hoops to get approved by insurance, I finally got through surgery! For my lap band I just went home after surgery. With my sleeve I stayed in the hospital for two nights. While having its share of annoyances, I thought staying in the hospital had several advantages such as always having someone there to take care of you and being able to catch any medical problems that might arise. When I had my lap band I wasn't able to pee for days and when I finally called my doc's office they instructed me that I should go to the ER to get a catheter put in. I had not idea how dangerous it was not to urinate after surgery. However, when this same thing happened to me in the hospital they caught it early and worked with my right away to take care of the problem. Some other general thoughts on both surgeries: While both surgeries left my abdomen very sore, the revision to sleeve left me with less internal pain from swallowing, burping etc. When I had my band I felt like I needed to burp for days and it was super uncomfortable. Also, with the band, I could tell when I needed to slow down drinking because I would immediately be in pain or feel like it was coming back up and I don't have that so far with the sleeve. I take a sip and let it go down and I don't really have any signal that lets me know my stomach is ready for the next sip. This may mean that I could drink faster than I am but I'm not willing to test that theory out at the moment. That's about it for now. So far I'm doing well and I'm looking forward to getting the weight back off!
  7. I'm also supposed to have surgery tomorrow. However, with the recent tropical storm I'm not 100% sure it won't be rescheduled
  8. Dr. Murr will be doing my band to sleeve revision on Tuesday, June 7th.
  9. I didn't have the reflux before the band. They said it's being caused by how high the band was placed on my esophagus. I had an EGD and they think I'll be fine with the sleeve.
  10. When I first got my band I was 325lbs. Up until about 280lbs I hadn't really felt that bad and considered myself a 'healthy' fat person. As I got closer to 300-325 I started feeling worse. I got banded, lost 127lbs and stayed happily between 200-225lbs for about five years. However, I had constant reflux and heartburn from the band. About a year ago I finally had enough and had some Fluid taken out of my band. Holy crap did I gain weight fast!!! I went from 213 to 293 in less than a year and felt miserable. Gaining weight at the rate of 10lbs per year allows your body to adjust and get used to it but gaining 80lbs quickly made me feel like I was trapped in a fat suit and couldn't get out. I'm now having revision surgery next week on Tuesday, June 7th and I cannot wait! I'm so excited. I just wanted to share a brief synopsis of my journey and encourage anyone out there that is unhappy with their chosen weight loss surgery to never give up!
  11. I'm on my pre-op diet now and will have surgery in less than a week on June 7th! I'm so excited to be getting my band out and revising to the sleeve!
  12. I'm scheduled to have revision from band to sleeve on June 7th!
