  1. Congrats! It's a super exciting time!
  2. Just like before surgery, everything we eat in moderation. 1 ounce of pistachios = good. Half a cup of pistachios = not so good.
  3. Holy crap, 21 pounds in 3 weeks. o.O I'm so envious! I'm almost 9 weeks out and I'm stuck at 43 pounds lost since surgery. XD Congrats on your NSV! It's a wonderful feeling to be getting our bodies back, isn't it. Just keep listening to it and taking good care of yourself, and good things will keep happening. Thanks for sharing!
  4. Awesome! Take good care of yourself, and we'll see you on the other side. Congrats!
  5. Woohoo! I'm happy and excited for you. Congrats.
  6. The actual experience of going under is SO much less scary than the concept of it. Most likely, you won't even remember falling asleep. I've been under anesthesia three times, once for tonsils, once for gall bladder last summer, and for my RNY two months ago. The anesthesiologist will say something like "count back from ten" and I honestly can never remember getting past 9. When I had my RNY, the doctor asked me about my favorite place to be, and I VERY vaguely remember beginning to tell her about this beach in San Diego and then the next thing I know, I'm waking up. It's so much less of a big scary thing than it sounds. You'll be just fine, don't worry. I know that is easier said than done, but the scariness of it is just NOTHING compared to what it actually feels like and the great things that come after surgery.
  7. Hey guys! Today, I am two months and 4 days post RNY, and everything is going really well. I've had no complications, very few tummy issues of any kind, and I've lost over 40 pounds. I've been very lucky! I'm writing today to tell you all about my order from the new Bariatric Pal store, and to give a little review for anyone who has been curious and thinking about ordering some stuff. I placed my order in the evening 4 days ago. The site is very clean and easy to use, and checkout was simple. So far, I'm very satisfied. I ordered the beef bouillon, beef Soup with Pasta, chicken soup with pasta, variety pack of hot chocolate (which includes amaretto, cinnamon hot chocolate, regular hot chocolate, mint hot chocolate, mocha hot chocolate, and raspberry hot chocolate), and the cheese steak macaroni entree. All of the Soups and the bouillon have 7 packets each and 15g of Protein per serving, plus very low amounts of carbs, and low or no sugar. So far I've only had a chance to try the beef bouillon and I was very pleasantly surprised - I knew it probably wouldn't be horrible but I was willing to put up with a less than delicious taste for the really good nutrition facts and protein amount. However, it's really, really good! It tastes exactly like any other bouillon, only it's actually good for you and helps with our protein needs! I was also pleasantly surprised to open the box to find several flavor samples of Bariatric Advantage brand Calcium chews, chewable multis, and chewable b12. There was also a sample of the black pepper turkey Jerky AND a sample of the chocolate truffle Syntrax nectar. I was not expecting all of this, but I'm really happy about it, as I'm pretty new to the bariatric lifestyle and still in the middle of the learning process in terms of what I like and what I can't stand. I've been adding all the nutrition information to the Myfitnesspal.com database, as all of this is pretty new, so anyone who uses Myfitnesspal and orders food or shakes from the BP store may have to add things in as they go along, but it's a pretty simple process, luckily. I would love to hear other reviews of foods or drinks you guys may have gotten and tried from the BP store. Thanks for reading! Abby
  9. Definitely wait to talk to your nut about it. Not worth the risk of harming your new tummy
  10. light string cheese, canned white meat chicken in broth, black bean Soup, organic coconut oil, their sriracha and green dragon sauce (I ADORE these sauces. I seriously could just drink them out of the bottle), and they currently sell spaghetti squash at a really good price.
  11. What have you found out since then? Nothing too serious, I hope.
  12. Very interesting. I'm two months post op and you're losing faster than me. >.> Damn me and my PCOS body, lol. I'm interested to see the continuation of your experiment.
  13. I'm so sad! I put the Quest pasta in my cart this morning but had to wait until just now to actually place my order, and it's already sold out. :'( I suppose that means you guys have gotten more traffic than you anticipated. Congrats. XD
  14. I drink 75-80 ounces of cold water daily. And I'm two months out, so I only drink one protein shake, somethings witga few ounces of added fat free fairlife milk, a day.
  15. Getting enough calories and protein, as well as enough water, are all extremely important. It's great that she's lost so much weight but it sounds like she may be hurting her body a little in the process. Also, going a long time without eating is TERRIBLE for you and for your metabolism. Make her take care of herself!
  16. I'm a cheese lover too, and get a decent amount of my protein from light string cheese sticks from Trader Joe's, low fat or fat free cottage cheese, and mozzarella shredded cheese.
  17. I felt this in the beginning too. I take krill oil because I have PCOS and it helps my skin/hair/nails. The first night I tried taking it, it got stuck, and I ended up puking up the krill oil and the mostly dissolved capsule. It was TERRIBLE. But I promise you it does get better. Just be patient and take it slowly. Feel free to message me anytime if I can help you with anything.
  18. Eggs aren't a problem for most people. Just relax, take a deep breath, and try a little bite. If you take a small bite and feel fine 5 minutes later, then you're fine. Don't worry so much! I know it's easier said than done but freaking yourself out could make you sick by itself. Take it slowly and only eat things on your list and you will be just fine.
  19. How did it go? Hoping you have a speedy and boring recovery!
  20. What are you eating that is causing you dumping syndrome?
  21. I would like to know the answers to these questions as well. I'm down almost a hundred pounds since the beginning of all this, and 40 since surgery, but I've still got a substantial amount of junk in the trunk and I fear judgement and not fitting into the machines as well. D:
  22. It could be hormonal imbalances. I have always had depression and anxiety but I've been completely out of control since surgery 8 weeks ago. Sudden extreme bouts of depression and random panic attacks... not fun. My surgeon tells me it's almost certainly hormone craziness, and eventually my body will stabilize, hopefully enough that my issues will be more manageable. Right now, I'm basically nonfunctional. :/
  23. I lost very slowly my first several weeks too. Now I'm 8 weeks out and suddenly 40 pounds are gone. I understand that feeling of wanting it to just melt off instantly, especially after seeing the insanely fast loss some people experience. But trust me, even though it doesn't really seem like it, in 6 months you will be AMAZED at how much is gone. Keep your chin up.
  24. I'd be worried if you said that changing a lifetime of bad habits is easy! It's so hard to give up the awful food, even for a short while, and we're trying to do it forever. Not only are our bodies literally addicted to these foods, but most of us (I know I did) use food as a coping skill to deal with so many things, from everyday stresses to big pains and difficulties in our lives. Giving up a coping skill that has served us and hurt us for so long is a huger fundamental change than most people ever experience in their lifetimes. But look at all the hard and admirable work you've done so far. Any person who has made it to where you are has my complete faith that you will get back on track with the time and effort. The fact that you notice it, want to change it, and have reached out for encouragement goes a long way toward your goal. Good luck, and take care.
