  1. @@Mojo56 spoke with Dr Bruce and currently BCBSNC doesn't cover the SIPS procedure any longer....so it's plan B for me!!! Which is more research and then a decision on whether to have the revision or not if its not a DS related procedure which through research is successful after a RNY!!

  4. Well so far I've enjoyed my brief encounters with Dr Bruce he is definitely a very calm matter of fact kind of guy, but with a sincere smile! Our next appointment will allow me more time to get a better relationship with him cause it will be more time for us to discuss my situation more fully!
  5. Well @@SIPSGrammy I definitely understand cravings, and popcorn is my favorite snack of all times...lol Yes please get on your vitamins, I know for me that will be a struggle as well so I am trying to get into a routine myself....cause I honestly hate taking meds...but I also don't like being sick....so that is my journey...and I need to embrace it now!!! I will definitely keep you posted once I hear something...I have a couple more months to see Dr Bruce as part of my revision requirements per my first meeting....so IF it is approved I am thinking it will not be until the fourth qtr of this year.
  6. Thanks so much for the reply to my inquiry....I've been busy taking all those pre-approval tests the last couple of weeks and really kind of coming off the sites for a few days to allow myself time to sort through all the information I've gathered and of course keep it in prayer so that I make the BEST decision for myself in regards to IF I want to do the revision and IF so, what procedure am I comfortable with as well as the one I will be committed to afterwards in regards to my maintenance to ensure a healthy outcome! I will definitely check out the website mentioned and http://www.dssurgery.com/procedures/duodenal-switch.php?subnav=2 This is another avenue of knowledge thanks so much for sharing... Please keep me posted as to your journey... and if you don't mind please add me as a friend!
  7. Sorry for the delay in response, I felt like I was overloading on information I was reading every moment I had on different sites information so that when I meet with him again this month I would have some questions from a knowledge base instead of knowing nothing as I was prior to visiting the different WLS sites. Yes, Barbara told me that REX was the hospital I was supposed to use for mine as well so I will find out more. I just finished my tests last week and found out that my stoma was stretched quite a bit and that is why my food intake has increased over the years. So after my last test on Friday, he stated he would have Barbara submit my paperwork to BCBSNC for approval. So we will see what he has in mind for me I know he still wants to do a DS version surgery for my revision so if that is not approved, I may have to switch to a provider who actually does the original DS, since he is known for the SIPS. SO..... enough about me.... how are you doing post surgery....please share any information you are comfortable with about your journey thus far so I can again, add this information to my notes for Q/A on my next visit.
  8. When I met my husband of 8 years ago I already had RnY surgery...and was at my lowest adult weight at that time and looking and feeling fabulous! But about 4-5 years ago I started gaining weight and I can tell although he does not say anything he does not like the weight gain. I decided finally to seek a revision of my previous procedure and I am currently in the preop surgery process with all the tests and appts., we have talked about it and he is happy either way with my decision to do the revision surgery or to continue trying to lose it without surgery. People's inner self can manifest at any time,so for some the weightloss was their catalyst sadly!!

    How did you know?

I'm 50 now and I am currently thinking of a revision of my bypass that I got 11 years ago. Mine was done laparoscopically, It truly was not that bad at all, only a few issues cause I was not chewing slowly enough and or long enough and it was too much going into my pouch when I got to a point where I was able to eat solid food. You are doing the right thing by seeking information from others on sights such as this knowledge is power and keep asking questions of your surgeon and even some of his/her patients so they can tell you their experiences as well. Good Health to you!
  10. @@SIPSGrammy I am with BSNC as well so you got the SIPS approved through UHC, do you know of anyone recently who has gotten it approved through BCBS of NC? That is my concern like JenKapNC.
  11. On NO....that is a concern of mine I too live in Durham NC and I have BCBSNC insurance and my surgeon Dr Bruce, has spoken to me about doing the SIPS procedure on me so I am a bit concerned by what you Enlightened us with it being considered an experimental procedure!!!
