  1. i was told to stay away from all soda regardless of it's flat.
  2. Hello I experienced the same thing. I had a huge hematoma after surgery and they would not let me leave until it reduced in size. It was still pretty big and hard. About a week after surgery it started bleeding when I was in the shower. I freaked out because it was a lot of blood. I called my doctor and we talked about it. It doesn't happen to everyone but it does happen often with any type of surgery. He said it would be a nuisance more than anything. He told me it could take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to heal. Basically it is a pocket of blood in between your skin/incision and the abdomen. Let me be clear that it is not beneath the abdomen or that would be a bigger problem. Over time that pocket can fill back up with blood until the pressure is so great it leaks or spurts out. It's a pain in the ass as I have to keep changing bandages. I'm three weeks post op now and still dealing with it although it's not bleeding as bad.

    Can we talk blenders?

I just purchased the Nutribullet RX. I do not consider this a blender. It's something else. It basically liquified all veggies and fruit and makes great soups and thick liquids. If you're looking for a machine to make shakes with ice, I don't really think this Machine is for that. Most of the recipes either use water/almond milk/coconut water/broths but not really ices. The ice would be liquified anyways. I bout it thinking it was a blender but now realize it's so much more. Definitely gotta keep the fridge stocked to use this thing.
  5. I'm still on my liquid phase post op but I am terrified of the upcoming phases mainly because I'm not creative or an expert in the kitchen. Before my surgery I was the typical guy proclaiming to be a grill master on the patio. I could do wonders with a steak. But now I'm at a loss. Any help?

Good idea Amanda, I'm looking at all options. We all made this decision to change our lives. Changing the nutrition habits is such a big hurdle. Everyone has such good input. You guys have really made the kitchen less intimidating.

thanks Rose. What got me thinking about this was salsas. Sounds crazy right? But on every FB page the first thing I usually see in a recipe section is some amazing salsa to help the food go down. It made me realize I don't even know how to make that! Lol. Well I can follow directions so I guess I just need to roll up my sleeves once the time comes. Meal prepping is also something foreign to me. But I'm researching and getting knowledgable about how planning is key.

    Sad about missing food

I definitely have had anxiety about losing my best friend "food". It's tough especially when the people around you continue to enjoy all of your old faves. I swear, not even a week out the hospital and I've seen Chick Fil A, Taco Cabana, Wendy's and Pizza Hut boxes laying around the house. I'm like jeez guys can you stick the knife any deeper.
  13. Great information and the answers let me know I'm right on track with similar symptoms and things happening to my body. At this point I'm ready for my incisions to heal.
