  1. @@guyfrom315 I hope your appointments go well. Best of luck on your surgery!!! The Dr. that I chose was originally from out your way and just moved here a couple of years ago to start a new bariatric program at another local hospital. I have heard great things about all of the bariatric teams out your way. I am sure you will do fantastic!
  2. @@Knitchic I hope your appointment went well! My psych eval was pretty easy although I didn't have the hundreds of questions that so many people mention, but my session was split into 2 1 hour sessions, so maybe she just asked me them all that way? Either way, I ended up flying through mine and she told me on the spot that she was all set to clear me for surgery. So apparently I was able to keep a lid on my crazy well enough to get through that process! Just kidding, she laughed at a lot of my answers a lot but at the end we decided I had a normal amount of crazy.. I hope your's goes just as smoothly!
  3. @@Cervidae I live in the Lake George area but I am originally from Schoharie (most ppl know Schoharie because it was hit so bad by Irene). I have facebook too if you'd like to chat more on there... I can be found under Tiffany Alicia Ball.. I am super excited for you and hope surgery goes fabulously!
  4. That is great news! I have my required preop weigh in tomorrow, I am sooo nervous about it for some reason lol
  5. I am currently preop although I have done all my clearances and have my surgery date (9/21). Just looking for some preop friends to talk with up until (and after) surgery. We could help keep eachother on track diet wise, and could help ease any fears we are having. (we all have those fears that our non-overweight friends or spouses just don't quite get). I am located in upstate NY but I am open to talking to anyone from any location. I do have facebook etc if you prefer chatting that way. Who knows, we may become great friends!
  6. @ that is great! Fingers crossed for you! I have a follow up tomorrow with my surgeon to check on my weightloss so far. (He wanted me to lose 30lbs before surgery).
  7. Congrats on taking the steps! My surgery is scheduled for 9/21 and I am certainly starting to get anxious! Hope all goes well for you.
  8. Thank you for the input. So far, it seems to be working fairly well.. I am down 20lbs in 2 weeks.
  9. Thank you so much for the reply. I had my initial consult with Dr B. A week ago today and he told me in order to get the bypass instead of the sleeve, he would like me to lose 30-50lbs before surgery (which is set for 9/21). He put me on a diet of egg and toast for breakfast, atkins/smart one etc for lunch and one for dinner. I thought he was absolutely insane but so far I am down just over 17lbs in a week.. So I can't complain... lol
  10. Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there were any individuals in Upstate NY that would be interested in supporting each oteachin the weeks leading up to surgery? I am totally open to chatting with someone post surgery too..I just know that from my experience, this journey can be a scary/overwhelming one and we can never have too many friends..
  11. I had my initial consultation yesterday. My insurance doesn't require any special preop diet or anything, so I was given a surgery date of 9/21 (yaayyy!) Now for the not so great part... I had wanted RNY over the sleeve, but my dr told me he may not be able to do it due to my weight (I was 435 by their scale). He did say he could do the sleeve instead, but my chances would be better for RNY if I could loose 30-50lbs. He put me on a diet of egg and toast for breakfast, a healthy choice, smart ones etc for lunch and the same for dinner along with 80oz of water a day. He swears that this diet will get me down about 50lbs by surgery if I follow it to a T. I have a few reservations about this, one being all the sodium in those boxed type meals and the other being that I have hypothyroidism. Has anyone else had any luck following a similar diet plan let alone following it with hypothyroidism? I do take my synthroid so my levels are technically managed well, but I have never been able to lose more than 20lbs on any diet. Any insight would be appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the reply! I have made the call to CDPHP and inquired about any diet guidelines they had as well as cost. Basically I was told they don't have any diet guidelines and that my only OOP costs would be my $15 copays for my consultation and any other visits like that and a $250 inpatient copay. Thank you for all the info, it is greatly appreciated and helps me to get a grasp on what types of appointments I can be expecting.
  13. Hi! I just decided a couple of weeks ago to start this journey, although it is something I have considered for many years. I have my 1st informational session on July 14th and my initial consultation at the Saratoga Bariatric Center with Dr. Baranov on August 11th. My 1st question is, does anyone have any experience with CDPHP during this process (I have a very general policy.. EPO National, no deductibles co insurance etc.), do they require the 3 month diet etc? I was also wondering how long the process was from your initial consultation to the day of surgery? My next question has to do with Saratoga Bariatric Center. How was your experience with them? Thanks in advance!
