Today was a total food fail! I'm almost 5 weeks post rny and graduated to soft foods last Friday. It's been going good with no problems until today.
I went shopping with a friend about 2 hours from home. I tried an omelet for Breakfast at a cafe. After about 3 bites of egg with cheese, spinach, and tomato and toast with Peanut Butter it all came back up.
Then for supper we went to Olive Garden. I had grilled salmon and garlic mashed potatoes. Again after a few bites it all came back up.
I did have applesauce in between with no problem and yogurt on the way home.
First time anything has made me sick. I've had eggs and mashed potatoes without problems so not really sure what caused it unless it was how it was cooked.
Not a very good day.
I had RNY June 10. I made the cheese bake this week. It was very good. I also have refried beans with a little cheese, cauliflower, applesauce, greenbeans, and yogurt and pudding. The next thing I'm going to try is roast beef hash. I've been trying to add something new every few days to see how it goes. Still can't do eggs though.
Has anyone found they needed to change jobs after WLS? I am 2.5 weeks post-op and returned to work Friday. I am asst manager at a convenient store which also has pizza and subs. I feel I'm going to have a hard time staying away from the food once I am back to full diet. The smells the past 2 days has been difficult. I'm thinking if I'm going to be successful in this journey I need less temptation. I love my job and the people I work with. But this journey is more important.
I started pureed on Monday. Some days are hard to get all fluid in. I try 3 protein shakes (1 with almond milk and 2 with water). I ordered the sample pack from Syntrax. 15 samples of Nectar for $15. I also try to drink 8 oz of V8 and a 12oz bottle of Powerade Zero or Vitamin Water Zero. Thats 5 of my 8 servings of fluids. So that leaves 3 more for water.
For food I usually try cereal in morning. My favorite is graham cracker and milk. Also tried oatmeal which was ok. I try to get either fruit or veg at lunch and a protein for supper. Each of these is usually 3 oz. Then in the evening I have yogurt, pudding, or a sugar free fudgecicle. Thats about all I can manage so far. I did buy ingredients for the cheese bake to try and also roast beef hash.
Went back to work today and I was really tired after only a 4 hour shift.
